Saturday, 2nd of June 2012 Tourism Day Opening event Spinderihallerne, Spinderigade 11E, DK7100 Vejle 09:30 (free admission) The Tourism Day will start with a free breakfast buffet for everyone at Café Maids at Spinderihallerne where there will be speeches and music. Bindeballe Merchant’s House, Bindeballevej 100, DK-7183 Randbøl 12:00 – 16:00 (free admission) Travel back in time at the historic merchant’s house. The communal barbecue will be lit and you can buy sausages and bread in the merchant’s house store. a guided tour 10:00, which will be followed by a putting competition on the museum’s Clock Green where a prize will be given to the person achieving the best score. The result and winners of the competition will be publicised online at www.danmarks-golfmuseum.dk Pedersholm Manor, Pedersholms Allé 42, DK-7100 Vejle 10:00 – 13:00 (free admission) The Pedersholm manor will host an event (11:30 – 12:30) in association with FestiVejle where former estate manager at Øster Grundet/ former Deputy Mayor, Ove Nielsen, will relate the history of the manor. Guided tours at 10.30, 11.30, and 12.30. Danakilde, Rørbækvej 13, DK-7323 Give 10:00 – 17:00 (free admission) Danakilde Refugium og Galleri (Danakilde retreat and art gallery) is beautifully located near the lake, Rørbæk Sø. There will be a crafts market with ceramics, glass, painting, woven baskets, jewellery, flowers, woodcraft, sculpture, etc. Bring your picnic basket and enjoy the splendid surroundings. Beverages must be purchased on site. Fårup Sø Camping, Fårupvej 58, DK-7300 Jelling 12:00 – 16:00 (free admission) A major open-house program featuring many activities where you can discover the secrets of the technical facility by the pool, enjoy rides on the campsite train, and bake bread on a stick by the campfire. Jasi the balloon clown will entertain the kids. And there will be free coffee/ tea for grown-ups and a slush-ice for the kids. Danhostel Vejle, Vardevej 485, DK-7100 Vejle 10:00 – 12:00 (free admission) The open-house event at the Skibet hostel invites you to drop by for a chat and offers the chance to renew your hostel card. There will be coffee and tea – and Danhostel balloons for the children. A big competition offers the chance to win a stay at a Danhostel in Denmark. Heddahgaarden, Bredal Skovvej 18, DK-7120 Vejle 11:00 – 17:00 (free admission) Visit Heddah’s exciting farm shop. For the special occasion there will be a flea market, a silk garment market, massage, clairvoyance, healing, etc. And free coffee and cake will be served. Denmark’s Golf Museum, Hotel Munkebjerg, Munkebjergvej 125, DK-7100 Vejle 10:00 – 16:00 (free admission) Visit Denmark’s only golf museum is located at Hotel Munkebjerg. Visitors are invited on Byens Hus, Møllegade 10, DK-7300 Jelling 10:00 – 22:00 (free admission) The community centre in Jelling, Byens Hus, will feature plenty of exiting activities. There will be a brewery tour and beer tasting event at the in-house microbrewery. The arts and crafts centre ”Møllen” will host an openhouse event (13:00-16:00). The café will be open from 12:00-22:00. And the art house cinema, Byens Bio, will screen films at 15:00 and 19:15 (admission). Museet Kellers Minde, H.O. Wildenskovsvej 10, Brejning, DK-7080 Børkop 10:00 – 15:00 (admission) The museum relates the history of the Keller Institutions, which was formerly a home for the mentally handicapped. There are guided tours every hour, but you are also welcome to walk around the museum, which features objects that have been used at the institution as well as items that former residents have worked with or helped to produce. Tea and coffee will be available for purchase. Kunsthåndværkergården, Birkebækvej 63, Tofthøj, DK-7321 Gadbjerg 11:00 – 16:00 (free admission) The small and cosy farm shop sells arts and crafts, such as glass art and raku-fired ceramics made at their own workshop. During the day there will be several craft demonstrations of how to make raku ceramics. And there will be coffee/ tea on the pot. Naturstedet, Hærvejen 96, DK-7182 Bredsten 10:00 – 16:00 (free admission) Drop by the farm shop to get tips and ideas of what to use honey for. And you can try samples of the many inspiring products from the store. In the afternoon you can buy freshly baked waffles, which can be enjoyed with your coffee. There will be competitions for adults and children alike, and there will be an opportunity to try the game, Hærvejsspillet. Den Kreative Klynge i Wittrups Hus, Grejsdalsvej 230, DK-7100 Vejle www.visitvejle.com 10:00 – 16:00 (free admission) The artisans will host an open studio event at their workshops, which are located in an old carpet factory. At NOGA DESIGN you will have the chance to create your own glass pendants. There will be a competition and demonstrations on how to make beads of glass enamel. Randbøldal Camping, Dalen 9, DK-7183 Randbøl 19:00 (admission) Taste Polish specialities at a Polish community event at Randbøldal Camping. Price: DKK 145 per adult, DKK 75 per child. Register before 31st of May by calling +45 75883575 Skovdal Kro, Fårupvej 23, DK-7300 Jelling 12:00 – 21:00 (free admission) Visit the inn located by the banks of the lake, Fårup Sø. Here you can see the impressive Viking ship, Jelling Orm. Coffee and cake is served from 15:00-16:30 (DKK 65). Kulturhuset, Rådhusbakken 9, DK-7323 Give 10:00 – 16.30 (free admission) The art associations skulpturby.dk, Crea Give and diagonal is association with the Give Chamber of Commerce will host exciting activities in and around Kulturhuset, the town’s culture centre. An exhibition will be featured 10:00-13:00 where 2-3 artists will present their work. At 13:00 there will be an opening show of new sculptures as well as entertainment by the local choir, Give Egnskor. At 15:00 there will be a guided sculpture walk through Denmark’s largest open-air gallery, i.e. the town of Give itself. And there will be on-going activities at town’s stores and boutiques. Skærup Zoo, Søndermarksvej 102, Skærup, DK-7080 Børkop 10:00 – 17:00 (admission) Visit the charming zoo, which features more than 100 animal species. Special events celebrating the day will include feeding time for some of the animals not generally included in the daily feeding events. Children can enjoy themselves at the playground or cuddle with the cute barnyard pets. Smidstrup & Omegns Museum, Præstegårdsvej 74, Smidstrup, DK-7000 Fredericia 11:00 – 15:00 (free admission) The rural heritage museum Smidsstrup & Omegns Museum features a special exhibition, “Domestic appliances in the 20th century”. The different displays will be brought to life – and pancakes will be made over an open fire. There will be coffee on the pot. Spisegalleriet, Orla Lehmannsgade 3, DK7100 Vejle 12:00 – 15:00 + 16:30 – 22:00 (admission) To mark the event, bush meat will be served at Spisegalleriet. The lunch menu (DKK 69 per cover) features kangaroo. Dinner (DKK 159 per cover) offers a choice between python, crocodile, kangaroo, kudu or rabbit. Naturally it’s all served with exciting condiments. Go sailing in the Vejle Inlet on board Tenna II 12:00 – 17:00 (fee charged) Tenna II will open the summer sailing season on Tourism Day. There will be two trips – 12:00-14:00 and 15:00-17:00. Tickets include two sausages served with bread. Beverages must be purchased on board. Vejle Bryghus, Remouladen and The Lodge, Dæmningen 42-44, DK-7100 Vejle 10:00 – 11.30 (free admission) The brewery in Vejle, Bryggeriet, will host an open-house event where you can have a chat with the brew master about how he brews his good local beer. And, of course, there will also be beer samples. Vingsted Hotel and Conference Centre, Vingsted Skovvej 2, DK-7182 Bredsten 10:00 –13:00 (free admission) The hotel welcomes you to explore the exciting Active Family Holiday and Summer Activities program featured at the hotel during week 31 (2012). The event is open to children and adults alike – so enjoy a fun day together where EVERYTHING is free. 10:00 Take part in a crazy relay race with competitions such as Sacks Racing, Bounce Ball, and Hula Hop Ring Relay Races. 10:40 A medieval event with fun old games, such as Archery, Boot Throwing and Gladiator Fighting. 11:30 Only for water lovers: Try the easy-to-sail Riverbug raft and head down the creek on a raft balancing exercise. 12:00 Lunch in the tent - where we will present our takeaway menu. 12:30 We light the campfire and bake the most wonderful pancakes. 13:00 Wrap-up of the event – and a tour for those who wish to join.
