PAGE-10 The Echo of India Kolkata Wednesday June 29, 2016 Could never do what Anna Hazare unveils poster of his biopic Priyanka has done: Kareena MUMBAI, JUNE 28 /--/ Kareena Kapoor Khan says having a career in Hollywood like fellow actress Priyanka Chopra is not feasible for her as her priorities in life are different than the "Quantico" star. In her recent interview to fashion and lifestyle magazine Vogue, where the actress has also appeared on the cover, Kareena said she does not want to conquer the world. "My priorities are very different. I think it's amazing what Priyanka has done. But I don't think I could ever do something like that. I want to be a married working woman. My responsibilities are a lot more different than hers. I have a husband, I would like to start a family. "I can't give up everything and move to LA. That's not me. The kind of work that these girls have put in, you need to have that kind of dedication of wanting to achieve so much and do it so wonderfully. Also, maybe I'm lazy. I don't want to conquer the world but I don't mind having a little place of my own. It's as simple as that," she said. The "Ki & Ka" star, 35, and the 33-year-old former Miss World shared screen space in 2004 romantic-thriller "Aitraaz". (PTI) MUMBAI, JUNE 28 /--/ Anna Hazare has launched the official poster of director Shashank Udapurkar's "Anna", which is based on his life. While Shashank is playing the titular role, Kajol's younger sister Tanisha Mukherji will be seen as a journalist. The poster features Anna waving to his supporters. "At the age of 25, I had decided I will serve my country till my last breath. My age is 79 today but my determination is same. Nothing is impossible," Hazare told reporters at the poster launch here. "For the sake of the society and countr y, someone has to sacrifice his life. I chose not to get married and serve for the society. In a way, I don't have a family but I have so many people (common people), who are my family," he said. Presented by The Rise Pictures Pvt Ltd and produced by Mahendra Jain, "Anna" also stars Govind Namdeo, Sharat Saxena and Kishor Kadam. Hazare said besides his much-revered anti-corruption fight, "Anna" also features incidents from his childhood, something which people are not aware about. "The makers have included incidents from my childhood as well as what I have done." When asked if "Anna" will have someone playing now Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was once Hazare's associate during the fight, the activist said, "I don't know. I haven't seen the film yet. As it Sood does a cameo in BET Awards celebrate Prince’s Pakistani film legacy with series of tributes LOS ANGELES, JUNE 28 / --/ Musicians Stevie Wonder, Tori Kelly, The Roots and Jennifer Hudson honoured legendary singer Prince with a series of performances throughout the ceremony. The first tribute to the singer, who died this April, came just 35 minutes into the show, as Dave Chappelle, wearing shades and a purple pocket square in his jacket, took the stage and spoke in a surprisingly husky voice. "On April 21, we got that news, and literally our hearts were broken, he said as the camera flashed to Spike Lee (wearing a knit purple hat and a gold Prince symbol on his lapel) and Samuel L Jackson in the audience. "I was 11 years old when 'Purple Rain' came out, and by the time I was 20, Prince had changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol. We miss him dearly. And tonight we celebrate the rich legacy of this remarkable genius, who we are all so proud of." The show then introduced his "old friends" the Roots and their longtime friends and collaborators Erykah Badu and Bilal. First up was Badu -wearing a black beret, a white fake fur stole, leather pants and what seemed to be a giant purple paper arm corsage -- doing a flawless version of "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker" from 1987's classic "Sign O' the Times" LP. Bilal, who goes so far back with the Roots and Prince tributes that he performed with them at one at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in 1999, was next with Purple Rain s "The Beautiful Ones". The next tribute saw Wonder and Kelly teaming up for the Prince/Apollonia duet from "Purple Rain", "Take Me With U". The pair played the song fairly straight, with Wonder (wearing a checkered purple and silver jacket) taking the lead while Kelly, clad in a pair of semi-transparent glittery high-waisted purple pants that were a Prince tribute on their own, brought a welcome heft to the high notes. At the song's end, Wonder moved over to a conventional synthesiz er, Kelly picked up a guitar, and Hudson soberly entered from stage right as the opening chords of "Purple Rain" rang out. Roots guitarist Kirk Douglas, whose guitar Prince borrowed and broke on Jimmy Fallon in 2013, joined her at the front of the stage. It was followed by Maxwell's performance on "Lake by the Ocean", the single from his forthcoming album "BlackSUMMERS'Night", segued suddenly into Prince's "Nothing Compares 2U". Next up was Janelle Monae, whose classic style lent itself well to a medley that started with "Delirious," from 1999, before segueing into "Kiss. (PTI) MUMBAI, JUNE 28 /--/ Actor Sonu Sood will be seen in a cameo in Pakistani film "Ishq Positive". Sonu will be seen in the romantic-comedy film, which also features Wali Hamid Ali, who is also a singer from the band "Raga Boys". "I am good friends with Wali. I did 'Ishq Positive' for our friendship," Sonu told PTI. The "Dabangg" villain will be making a brief appearance in the film."It's a cameo. I am playing myself in the film. I have my natural look in the film. We shot in Mumbai," he added. Besides acting in Bollywood and Tamil and Telugu films, it seems Sonu wants to spread his wings. He will be seen in an Indo-Chinese film with actor Jackie Chan. Pakistani actors like Ali Zafar, Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Imran Abbas and Mawra Hocane are working in Bollywood. (PTI) B-wood actors deserve more on global stage: Priyanka MADRID, JUNE 28 /--/ Priyanka Chopra may have made a mark for herself on the international platform with American TV show "Quantico" and upcoming film "Baywatch", but the actress feels Indian actors deserve a lot more than what they get from the world. The 33-year-old "Mary Kom" star said when an actor from India goes to work in the west, he or she often suffers at the hands of stereotyping. "It is difficult to go to another country and do things. I want to thanks all my fans for being so supportive. We get just one per cent of what Indian actors deserve from the world. We shouldn't be boxed in a certain kind of role," Priyanka said during her acceptance speech at the IIFA awards. The actress received two awards at the ceremony best supporting actress and woman of the year. Priyanka said she is extremely proud of being a part to the Hindi film industry and thanked all her directors for mentoring her so well that today she can stand her ground internationally. Her mother, a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, and her grandmother had both struggled with bulimia. However, the singer tried to raise awareness for body acceptance recently and she managed to inspire her fans to overcome their struggles. "When I have meet-and-greets, I can't tell you the amount of times that girls will show me their arms covered in scars or cuts. They'll tell me, 'You helped me get through this. The 29year-old actor, however, feels people should not confuse between what an artist does in films and off-screen. "Yes at some level, actors should also come forward and take the responsibility. Being a part of the society as well as (being) celebrities, this becomes their responsibility to contribute towards it in any manner." "Having said that you should also not blame an actor if you see hours on the sets and have already been battling ideas. I talk to him about his initiative all the time," Ali told PTI. "He has done a great job and it's unreal how he has pulled the whole initiative so beautifully," the young actor said. Whether it be in my clothing line, or if I am writing or even if I am acting," McCarthy said. The "Bridesmaids" actress believes in constant reevaluation. "I have a constant need to re-evaluate.
