Project outline
This striking new headquarters for Domino’s Pizza with over 2,000 sq. metres of floor space will not
only house 150 employees within its core functions of Marketing, Business Development, IT,
Customer Support, Finance and HR, but will also be home to a state-of-the-art
state
test kitchen for
developing key new products, that no doubt will be scrutinised in the penthouse boardroom.
The building also achieves the BREEAM rating of excellence (Building Research Establishment
Environmental Assessment Method) with the innovative technology used to support sustainability
throughout the project build and also on a day-to-day
day basis.
It is not only the technical aspects of the of the building that have been considered for this level of
excellence but also the improved working environment offered to the staff – for instance, all the
office space is within 7 metres of a window, so everyone benefits from natural light.
The open plan design called for the
services to be exposed and the Gripple
Hangers offered a neat and aesthetic
solution to supporting both M&E and
HVAC services.
Gripple Duct Trapeze with barrel end fixing
Gripple Hangers have far less visual
mass than threaded rod and channel,
leaving the services with a floating
look, ideal when they are exposed.
Combine this with the barrel end fixing
for a sleek finish to the installation.
The concrete screw comes with anGripple

thread and the barrel end fixing screws directly onto
this for a neat, flush finish to the ceiling. All parts are supplied as a ready-to-use kit from Gripple.
The contractor has used Gripple solutions
extensively in the past, however the barrel end
fixing was used for the first time throughout the
building for its improved aesthetic qualities.

Additionally, the new Gripple Duct Trapeze, also
offered an improved installation not only at ceiling
level but at the duct level too. Instead of using
heavy threaded rod and channel, the Gripple Duct
Trapeze replaces both of these elements. This
lightweight solution delivers on many fronts…
Installation time is significantly reduced
Visual impact is minimised
Working at height is reduced
CO2 saving contribute towards the excellence
BREAAM status of the project….
Gripple Duct Trapeze
Using Gripple compared to
traditional threaded rod and
channel offers massive CO2
savings, contributing to the
fundamental principles of a
BREEAM build.
For every metre of wire rope specified instead of
rod, it’s estimated that a saving of 1.2kg of CO2
will be made. That equates to a total CO2 saving
of 95% when switching from threaded rod to wire
rope.
Add to this calculation that when using the Gripple
Duct Trapeze, that no channel is required, meaning
there is no cutting channel on site (no hot works
permits), meaning no power used either, and the
CO2 figures really start to make an impact.
Gripple G-bracket
“ The architect was very specific in regard to all services above the ceiling raft being
visible, therefore the incorporation of the barrel fixing and trapeze arrangement for
Gripple
Hanger
duct supports provided the ideal
solution
to meet his particular requirements”.
