VISITOR GUIDE POSTERS
If you would like a Visitor Guide poster like
the one below, please pick one up from the
Beach Chamber office at
333 S. Gulfview Blvd. The poster has a QR
code for cell phone scanning.
Our Beach Chamber just keeps getting better and better.
Last Thursday, what started out as the Clearwater Beach
Spa Mingle, turned into our very first Block Party Mingle,
thanks to the hard work of Trisha Rodriquez of Tropical
Boat Tours, our Special Events Chair. We all know how
difficult it is to coordinate a meeting with more than two
people in attendance. We call each other, e-mail each
other, and go through our list of dates to find something
that works for all
involved. It is harder
sometimes to
schedule the meeting
than the meeting
itself. Well, Trisha
was very successful in
doing that very thing.
She managed to
organize all the businesses together for the Block Party.
It was not an easy task, and we were lying across parking
spots in the parking lot that morning to ensure the area
was clear for the tents that afternoon. The end result
was a huge success.

*TAMPA BAY RAYS
Approximately 65 people were there to enjoy the "Open
House" invitation that the Shipwreck Building businesses
offered. People that drove by wanted to know what was
going on and came back to enjoy the fun. Angelo's Pizza
and Monaco Motel participated and showed their
neighborly support by being there too. Networking was
at its best and I have heard of several success stories
that evolved from that night. There was great music,
great food, great weather and great opportunities for all
who were there. Please CLICK HERE to see the Photo
Gallery on our website for photos from the event. Thanks
also go to Belleair Images for photography, Whirlwind
Events for the tents and tables, and again a big shout-out
to Trisha for her leadership skills, thank you all for
making a difference!

Please help us make the Clearwater
Beach Restaurant Week Kick Off
Party a huge success! One of the
ways we will be raising money for
your Beach Chamber and the
Clearwater Marine Aquarium is by
having a table of gift baskets that attendees can bid on
to win. We are hoping to have 10 gift baskets to offer.
Each basket will have a theme relating to Clearwater
Beach. This is where we need your help! We need items
to fill these baskets! Can you help us out with a
donation? We are looking for items such as: beach gear,
restaurant gift certificates, salon certificates, hotel night
certificates, boat trips, Clearwater Beach logo items,
bottles of wine, etc...
We will be happy to pick up your donation, or you can
drop it off at our office. Call us at: 447-7600.

Proforma N & M Communications
Recently Citrus County Chronicle Publisher, Gerry
Mulligan and his wife Janet, opened their home on Kings
Bay to Rotary District 6950's, which includes Pinellas,
Pasco, Hernando & Citrus Counties,12 Rotary Youth
Exchange (RYE) students to enjoy a day of kayaking. Mr .
Mulligan is a long time member of the Crystal River
Rotary Club and supports many of the programs of the
Rotary with direct involvement. In addition to the
Mulligan's Inverness Rotarian Lace Blue-McLean, best
known for being a moving force in saving Three Sister's
Springs from development, volunteered to organize the
day's events to create an experience that none of the
students would ever forget as part of their 10 month
exchange involving attending a year of high school.
Several of the students were actually American's that
have been selected by Rotary to go to a foreign country
for 10 month's next August as part of the exchange so
that they can learn more about the big wide world out
there through personal experience.
Each year there are as many as 75 RYE inbound students
in Florida sponsored by Rotary Clubs from one end of the
state to the other. This also allows RYE to send an equal
amount of American students to those same countries
that the inbound students came from. Nationally there
are approximately 8,000 RYE students inbound and
outbound each year that come from and go to 30 to 35
different countries. Three of the current inbound
students are attending classes at our three local high
schools and grade-wise are in the top 10% of their
printed all of our lovely mousepads
that were given out at the Holiday
Breakfast in December 2011.

A START TO STOPPING RED TIDE
Anne McKay Garris, a
board member for
START, an organization
dedicated to Solutions To
Avoid Red Tide, has
organized this event for
Tuesday, March 6, at
7:00pm at the
Clearwater Beach
Recreation Center, 69
Bay
Esplanade. Sandy Gilbert,
president of START will talk
about research which has
discovered a way to stop
Red Tide, the vicious
"bloom" in the Gulf of
Mexico that often inflicts
itself on our area. He will
share with us the
discovery of an organism
which eventually stops
red tide. He will also
explain what additional
research is necessary to
be sure the solution will
not, in some way,
cause unforeseen
damage to the
environment.
In addition to Red Tide research, START has a vision to
improve the quality of our marine waters.
The program, which is free to the public, is sponsored

Plant City held its first festival in 1930. The local Lions

community agriculture, should be celebrated in a big
way. In 1948, American Legion Post 26 brought back the
festival after a six-year absence because of World War II.
Now the festival is considered one of the top 40 fairs in
North America. Last year, about 524,000 attended, said
KeeLee Tomlinson, festival spokeswoman.
