The Islands
The Whitsundays consist of 74 islands located in the middle of the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef Marine
Park. These islands are pristine, with 66 in their natural state. The area is managed by the Great Barrier Reef Marine
Park Authority and well protected for future generations through programs such as the Ecotourism Certification,
administered by Ecotourism Australia.

Since 1985 we have been providing
Whitsunday Sailing Tours. Guests can choose
between Maxi Sail, Adventure Sail, Tall
Ships or Deluxe Sail and Cruise. Whether
travelling independently, as a couple, or with
a group we have a tour option available. Our
experienced crew take the worry out of sailing
around the islands and reefs. With all Marine
and Park Permits, we will take you to the best
locations planned around the prevailing wind
and tides. There are many smooth water
stops nestled around the islands, so overnight
anchorages are pleasant for sleeping and offer
spectacular scenery!

The Whitsundays is blessed with having many bays and coves
which are well protected from prevailing winds and large ocean
swells or waves. This protection helps to foster the growth of many
soft corals, such as the Coral Fans. These vivid soft corals attract
many species of colourful fish.

Returns 5:15pm to 5:30pm
Guests will get the opportunity to snorkel when we stop at the bays
around the islands. A thorough briefing will be provided by the
crew. Guests are also offered floatation devices, including noodles
or life jackets. While snorkelling a crew member will be close by
in a tender ready to pick guests up. At many of our snorkelling
locations the beach is within metres of the coral reefs and guests
can swim ashore.
Australia’s 4th challenger for the America’s Cup. Winner of the America’s Cup
Challenger Series, racing at Newport Rhode Island in the USA. If you are after an
exciting sailing experience, then Southern Cross is perfect. Southern Cross has a
permanently shaded cockpit and had a major refit inside and outside in 2014.

Introductory or Certified Diving
Our 58ft purpose built dive boat is located at the best
Whitsunday dive locations and our vessels meet up with the
dive boat.
Guests have the option to complete Introductory or
Certified Dives. For Introductory Dives, guests will be
guided with a qualified instructor and enjoy a Dive
experience which will last 25 to 35 minutes.

Maxi Sailing is great fun and high on adventure.
Maxi’s are large yachts over 22 metres in length,
they are the Formula 1 of Whitsunday Charter
Yachts. Being fast means that in only 2 days you
will get to see more of the Whitsundays. Plus you’ll
be happy you are on a Maxi, when by wind power
alone (very Eco Friendly), you sail by other yachts
like they are standing still! Group sizes of 22 to
29 guests, meet other social like minded adventure
travellers.... Don’t be surprised if there’s a bit of a
party in the evening.

Siska was built in Perth WA, and her impressive career includes winning
the Sydney to Hobart Race and circumnavigating the world twice. This
performance allows Siska and her guests to experience a lot of the
Whitsundays in just 2 days. Siska’s interior was custom built for Whitsunday
charters and features a large guest lounge and dining area with over 2.3m
headroom. The spacious deck includes a roll out shade awning.

Hammer is a true Australian Yachting Legend. Throughout her racing
career Hammer competed in many ocean racing events and is best
known for 5 consecutive placings in the Sydney to Hobart. At the
end of Hammer’s racing career her interior was refurbished with a
comfortable saloon area and open plan accommodation. Hammer is
sleek and her sailing speed still remains and in just 2 days you will see
more of the Whitsundays than other longer tours do.

Broomstick was built in South Africa to win the Cape Town to Rio
Race. From there she went on to compete in many famous events
including the Sydney to Hobart. Broomstick finished racing in
2000 and in 2001 was converted for charter tours. Be aware,
the racing spirit remains.

Condor is one of the most famous Maxi’s in history, winning races all
over the world, such as the Sydney to Hobart, Fastnet, Bermuda Cup
and Antigua Race Week. Downstairs, Condor has space galore and
there are two private cabins which can be booked for a little extra.

Raced under the name Ondine VII & achieved great success,
including 1st place in World Maxi Series Races. Boomerang was
built in Italy and was still racing in NZ until 2001. Boomerang
has deck space galore, large cockpit with grinder winch towers
and a roll out shade awning. Downstairs is large, light and airy.

the World Race. British Defender is a high tech Maxi that allows

This racing yacht was designed by Famous Australian designer and
yachtsman Iain Murray. Eureka is a Sydney 60, which is a fast and
modern race yacht with comfortable appointments. With a maximum
of 14 guests, Eureka is perfect for guests seeking a smaller group
experience. Eureka has two private double/twin cabins which can
be booked for a little extra. Scuba diving only on Wednesday’s
departure.
Prima was purpose built to operate charters in the Whitsundays and
she is perfect for individuals, couples or Private Charter groups. With a
maximum of 12 passengers and 2 crew, Prima will provide a comfortable
home for your Whitsundays experience. Prima has 2 private double
cabins with private ensuites, and 2 doubles with share bathroom. A major
refit in 2012 included air conditioning to the main cabin area. Prima
presents in wonderful condition.

With an overall length of 127ft (28m) and 100ft on deck, Solway
Lass is the largest Tall Ship sailing the Whitsunday Islands. Built in
Holland in 1902 of German Blue Steel, major works keep this world
renowned Tall Ship in beautiful condition. In 1999 ten new guest
cabins were built for Whitsunday Island cruises.
Amazing History:
First registered in Hamburg, carried cargo between Europe, Nordic
& UK; served in both World Wars; sailed Fiji during the 1970s;
Sydney’s Tall Ship for the 1980/90s, involved in the 1st Fleet reenactment celebrating 200 years of settlement. Solway Lass cruises
are casual and offer a Tall Ship experience from a bygone era.

Atlantic Clipper was formally known as The Guiness Clipper,
used to transport Guiness from the UK to USA in the early 1970’s.
Fun practical way to introduce participants to the overall
running of a yacht, including safety, regulations and
manoeuvres. Time is also available to experience the

Today, Atlantic Clipper has been converted to accommodate
guests on 2 night cruises of the Whitsunday Islands.

Each August the Whitsundays comes alive with Australia’s
most popular and colourful sailing regattas. August is Winter,
but you wouldn’t think so with sunny days around 26°c and
generally 10 to 20 knot breezes making for some amazing
sailing. Whether a total novice to sailing or an experienced
sailor, we welcome guests to join us.

Hamilton Island Race Week
20 to 27 August 2016. | Price $2200.
Hamilton Island Race Week is held the 2nd to 3rd week of
August each year. We offer a full live-aboard experience
for 9 days. Includes accommodation on yacht each night at
Hamilton Island Marina, then by day guests become part of
the crew and enjoy the Racing. In 2010, our Maxi Condor
won Cruising Division of the regatta.
Packages racing by day and staying each night at the Resort
are also available on request.

RESERVATIONS, CONFIRMATIONS AND CHECK IN: Guests are asked to check-in for a tour briefing and to pickup boarding passes.

All other vessels check in at Explore Whitsundays Shop 1, 4 Airlie Esplanade Airlie Beach. Hours 7:30am to 7pm
Conditions
HAMILTON ISLAND AIRPORT transfers - At time of booking tours, please advise Hamilton Island pickup or drop-off (Additional Cost). Transfers are via Ferry and schedules are aligned with most flights.
Cancellations between 60 to 30 days before travel will result in loss of 25%; between 29 days to 14 Days
50% of ticket price applies, less than 14 Days before departure 100% charges apply. Accommodation
Cancellations, 7 nights before check-in, cancellation fee of 1 night applies. Sailing and snorkelling can be
dangerous activities & while crew take every effort to ensure guest safety, we cannot be held responsible
for the actions of guests beyond our control. Vessels which offer diving meet with our Dive Boat Tornado
and diving is extra. We reserve the right to change vessels to a similar standard or alter tours for guest
comfort/safety. Alcohol is BYO for all vessels except Solway Lass. Solway Lass is licensed and offers bar
service at reasonable prices. We recommend travel insurance to protect against loss of valuables, illness,
late cancellations or failure to meet departure time. Prices are a Guide and may increase at anytime.
