Looking for a spot to Shower?
CHECK OUT LAVA MAE Shower in a converted retired MUNI bus.
http://www.lavamae.org/ About Lava Mae’s Founder Doniece Sandoval: Driven by a fierce belief that everyone has a right to
dignity and the knowledge that access to showers and sanitation are in serious short supply for the homeless, Doniece was
compelled to start Lava Mae. To deliver dignity and unlock opportunity for those experiencing homelessness — one mobile shower
at a time. Fundamental to this mission are three beliefs: 1. Everyone has the right to be clean. 2. Those experiencing
homelessness can’t access jobs and housing or maintain health and wellbeing if they can’t get clean. 3. With hygiene comes dignity;
with dignity, opportunity. (updated 9/1/2015)

Some things to know about picking up syringes at 1035 Market:
1) Our client services lobby offers computers, phones, and hospitality. We also offer confidential HIV and
Hepatitis C testing Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 3pm-5:30pm or by appointment (415) 487-8037.
If you will be using the phones, computers, testing services, or the restroom, please pick up your harm

2) We don’t take returns at this location- please visit an exchange for safe disposal.
3) 1035 Market has a no drug use on the premises policy. Why?
• We offer many services at SFAF including drug treatment and harm reduction counseling. We want
our bathrooms to be a place that is comfortable for everyone, including people who are trying to stop
or reduce their drug use.
• We do not have the resources to monitor and respond if someone overdoses or is having a medical or
psychiatric emergency related to drug use. Please do not use drugs in 1035 Market’s restrooms.
We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
We want you to feel welcomed and respected when you come to 1035 Market. If you have feedback about
the service you receive, a concern, suggestion, or complaint- we would like to hear from you. Please contact

Little Boxes: The Legacy of Henry Doelger
LITTLE BOXES: The Legacy of Henry Doelger is a fascinating architectural and historical journey through the Westlake District of Daly
City, California, one of America’s first and most iconic postwar suburbs. Located just south of San Francisco, Westlake has long been
the subject of adoration as well as ridicule. Perhaps Westlake’s greatest claim to fame is that it inspired Malvina Reynolds’ 1962 antisuburban folk song, “Little Boxes.”
The neighborhood’s quirky architecture has been featured in numerous books, newspapers, national magazines and commercials.
But this is the first documentary film exclusively about Henry Doelger and his signature community. Little Boxes not only documents
Doelger’s place in history, but it uncovers Westlake’s amazing development process and celebrates its classic midcentury style.
The screening will be followed by a short Q & A with the filmmaker. Rob Keil is a San Francisco-based art director, designer and
filmmaker who has lived in and around Westlake his entire life.

Visions of Justice: The Throwaways
SFPL’s The Bridge at Main and The Reentry Council of San Francisco invite you to join us for a film series exploring themes of reentry,
juvenile and criminal justice. Each screening will be followed by a panel discussion hosted by a local community organization. The
next film in the series, The Throwaways, is sponsored by the Reentry Council of San Francisco and The Bridge at Main. The
Throwaways is a personal exploration of the devastating impact of police brutality and mass incarceration on the black community
told through the eyes of formerly incarcerated activist filmmaker Ira McKinley. With rawness, urgency and power, this awardwinning documentary film speaks directly to the national movement rising up to fight back against a wave of police killings of black
people in America. Timely and provocative, The Throwaways is more than just an illumination of marginalized people at their
weakest moments; it is a call to action, a story of directly engaging in the fight for justice.

in his life. In this presentation, Pete talks about growing up in a musical family, his travels around the country with Woody Guthrie,
singing with the Almanacs and the Weavers, and his involvement in causes that include the labor movement, the civil rights
movement, and cleaning up the Hudson River near his home. And of course Pete will encourage audience members to join with him
on songs that include "If I Had Hammer," "We Shall Overcome," and "This Land." Tim Holt has been performing music programs in
Bay Area libraries for a number of years. His interest in Pete Seeger and folk music dates back to the Folk Revival of the 1960s, when
he learned to play the banjo one summer using Pete Seeger's "How To Play The Five-String Banjo" instruction manual.

Meditation at Faithful Fools Why a Zendo in the Tenderloin? Answer: This is a neighborhood where many of its
inhabitants have a future to look forward to that is as bleak as their past. So since Zen is beyond concepts of both the
future and the past, what better place for someone to go who is being crushed between both times zones than the
Faithful Fools Zendo? There, for an hour a day, it is possible to simply sit with yourself, safely alone in the only moment
that really exists, and perhaps enter a silence that can set you free to live your life beyond the conditined zones of time
and space. If you are fresh to the Tenderloin and find yourself sandwiched between two loaves of rotten bread, one
from the past and one from the future, try sitting in the Faithful Fools' Street Zendo.Meditation Schedule

Faithful Fools will walk with you if you need support. Accompaniment
Don't want to go it alone? Get in Touch with Faithful Fools. Aware of Our Judgments, we seek to meet people where
they are through the Arts, Education, Advocacy, and Accompaniment. Daily accompaniment is a part of the holistic work
of the Fools, with the goal of building relationships, providing services, and giving solid grounding to our advocacy work
through direct experience with people and the current systems and policies that effect their lives. Daily accompaniment
works with individuals to discover their own power, talents, and understanding in order to access services and take steps
that lead them toward greater stability with the supportive community of the Faithful Fools. Several of the people who
have benefited from daily accompaniment in turn accompany others, their greatest resource being their own direct
experience and knowledge. In addition to walking with people through the services they need, we provide direct
assistance to those in crisis or transition by offering short-term cash assistance for housing, food, medical needs, and
clothing. We often have people appear at the door asking for food or material assistance such as a blanket, a pair of
socks, toiletries or a jacket on a cold night. Daily accompaniment is carried out by volunteers who have made at least
one street retreat and who are a regular part of the process of meditation and reflection. It is central to the practice of
the Fools in establishing one-to-one relationships through which people journey into the deeper meanings of our
connection with one another across many of the lines that divide us. Understanding another’s experience in the very
day-to-day level moves us past another layer of assumptions and toward that which ultimately connects us to one
another.
