CELEB SURGERY SPECIAL... CELEB SURG 'WE JUST WANT To BE PERFECT!' LEISSIRG, With demand for cosmetic procedures such as Botox, facial fillers and boob jobs at an all-time high, we look at the celebs who just can't get enough of plastic surgery REALITY STAR HEIDI Montag described herself as "beyond obsessed" with plastic surgery after having 10 cosmetic AIvIERICAN ops in one day last November, but last week she lashed out at how easy it was to go under the knife, blaming her late surgeon Dr Frank Ryan for not preparing her for the transformation. Heidi, 23 - who had her breasts enlarged to a DDD, a nose job, lipo, brow-lift, ear pinnings, chin reduction and a bottom augmentation among other procedures - claimed her addiction was down to Dr Ryan, saying: "How can you know, when your doctor's saying: 'It's just a little of this, it's just a little of that?' You know, it really becomes a lot. "I think that doctors should really walk you through all aspects of it, not just the glamorous side of it." The Hills star is not the only celeb who's succumbed to over-the-top surgery. At 68, I'm A Celebrity! star Britt Ekland's frozen features and collagen-plumped lips have left her looking like a plastic caricature of the glamorous '70s actress. But it's not just celebrities opting for surgery to hold back the years. UK spending on surgery is expected to swell to £1.5bn by 2011, rising at a faster rate than in the US, while requests for boob jobs have gone up 20 per cent since last year. Dr Yannis Alexandrides of the Harley Street Cosmetic Surgery Centre tells Closer: "Non-invasive work like fillers is tempting because it's not seen as going under the knife. Surgery is also more affordable and techniques have improved. But no one knows what the after-effects are." Here, Closer looks at the celebs who admit to being obsessed with surgery, those who've gone too far and those who've had work and look great. But why do some celebs get hooked? Psychologist Sue Wright explains: "Often it takes hold with somebody who is insecure and trying to create an external persona. They are trying to make themselves perfect, the trouble is after every operation, they never feel finished. It's as if they need this to balance out how unhappy they're feeling inside." 0 WHAT SHE" HAD: Alkia Douvall, 30 INCLUDING -- "I've had so many ops I can't feel my stomach, my left breast or under my right arm. But top plastic surgeon Alex Karidis says the procedure can result in famous faces losing their looks. He explains: "As the face ages it sinks, so celebs plump it up with filler, which can cause their features to disappear." Here Alex Karidis gives his verdict on the procedures they may have had Amanda Holden 39 manda has denied having anything more than Botox, but Alex Karidis says: "She "appears to have had filler in her lips, which has created a lumpy effect. It's like she's had a bad reaction to the filler." Carla Bruni 42 French President Sarkozy's ex-model wife has never onfirmed she's had work done, ut Alex Karidis says: "She's probably had skin peels and her lips have been filled, along with the lip to nose area." Angelina Jolie, 35 - There were rumours that Ange had a ribbon lift to tighten the skin of her neck. But Alex Karidis says: "I think it's a trick of the camera. But she may have had some filler in the nose to mouth area and the lips." They were once considered some of Hollywood's most beautiful women and these legendary stars appear to have gone to extreme lengths to hang on to those glory years. But has the surgery backfired? The I'm A Celebrity! star and former Bond girl is thought to have had collagen implants, a facelift, eyebrow lift and a nose job. Elvis Presley's widow Priscilla is believed to have had a facelift, a nose job, a brow lift and fillers to plump up her cheeks. The brash comic and long-time surgery fan has had two facelifts, an eye tuck, a nose job and endless Botox. Former Dallas star Victoria has denied ever having plastic surgery, but it's thought she's had a facelift and collagen to plump up her lips. These surgery addicts are barely recognisable after becoming hooked on having ops to transform their looks She's said to have spent over £4m on surgery, and as a result the "Bride Of Wildenstein" has a reputation as the world's scariest-looking celeb. "She looks almost un-human," surgeon Alex Karidis says. "She's had it all, from full facelifts to collagen and eyelifts - probably multiple times." The former Dead Or Alive singer sued a surgeon last year when lip filler surgery went wrong - then spent his £450,000 damages on more Botox! Alex Karidis says: "He's had every surgery going and looks almost cartoon-like. It's sad - he looked great before but is now unrecognisable." READ THIS FIRST The former Hollywood pin-up has ruined his once sexy looks with facelifts and corrective treatments. "Mickey isn't quite as bad as the others, but he's well on his way," Alex explains. "If he's not careful he could suffer a bad reaction like the others." Make an informed decision Think carefully about the surgery you want. Are you doing it for the right reasons? Know the risks Weigh the benefits against the risks of side effects/complications (eg vomiting, pain, infection, or blood clots) before going ahead. Consult a GP Chat to your GP about what surgery involves they'll have an unbiased but informed opinion. *a 020 7405 2234 Celebs might make it look like an easy option, but before thinking of having surgery, it's advisable to consider these points... Seek alternatives Sometimes surgery isn't the only answer. You can often achieve the desired results through non-surgical treatments. Don't get yourself into debt Surgery is expensive, so make sure you have the funds - a boob job costs around E4,500. Use a recommended surgeon Only use a surgeon with good credentials. She says: "A great outcome is one where no one immediately notices, leaving patients looking refreshed and younger." Here, Angelica assessesthe best celeb surgery results Demi Moore, 48 , "She's denied having surgery, but Demi looks so good she's most likely had a helping hand! Her wrinkly knees were banished and her -0 1 thighs may have been shaped with iiiik' ' jowls or eyelids, so likely she's had a browlift and laser skin resurfacing. Since her jawline is smooth she may also have had a subtle lower face and upper neck lift, which leaves scars behind the ears and in the hairline, so it's not as obvious." Later, she went up to a DD and the outline of her implants was visible and looked out of proportion with her tiny frame. In May 2009, she underwent a reduction from DD to B as she changed her image from WAG to fashionista. The implants have probably been replaced under the muscle instead of on top, which is better for slim girls like Posh, as it disguises the upper part of the implant. She now looks great - her breasts seem more natural." Coleen Rooney, 24 "In the before picture. Since then, she is alleged to have had Botox and facial fillers. Dr Yannis Alexandrides says: "Her face looks rubbery. Collagen is permanent and she has it right up to her nose, creating a duck effect. She's had too much filler, her face has lost its shape." Actress Tara had lipo-sculpting after a boob job and stomach lipo went wrong. She then had a "doughnut mastopexy" to lift her breasts, and more lipo to correct her stomach. Dr Alexandrides says: "She'd had too much fat removed - her skin hadn't retracted. She had a lot of loose skin for her age. She looks a lot better now."
