Amongst the products on show were two of our latest products to be launched this year, APC™ Flash-Free Adhesive Coated Appliance System with Clarity™ ADVANCED Ceramic Brackets and Unitek™ Gemini SL Self-Ligating Brackets. Both products were well received by visitors to the stand and the event provided a great opportunity to showcase our latest innovations. 3M Unitek also sponsored the networking evening at Manchester Town Hall prior to the conference. The event was very well attended and offered a great chance for us to connect with our customers and colleagues and introduce our new products against a backdrop of bhangra dancing and jazz music. We would like to thank all visitors to the stand this year as well as the British Orthodontic Society for another wellorganised and engaging event. We are already looking forward to Edinburgh 2014. In the meantime, don’t forget to check out the 3M Unitek events page for our full listing of confirmed dates for 2014, which will be updated throughout the year on our website at www.3MUnitek.co.uk/events. Last month, 3M Unitek hosted the annual MBT Symposium in London. The event took place over two days and was well attended by delegates from the UK & Ireland, as well as delegates from throughout Europe. The event featured lectures from renowned speakers Dr. Lars Christensen, Dr. Steve Chadwick, Dr. Colin Melrose and Dr. John Scholey, which were very well received by the audience. Des Creighton, General Sales & Marketing Manager for 3M Unitek commented, “Our programme of education and events is an important part of 3M Unitek’s culture of connecting and sharing best practice with the orthodontic community. The event once again delivered quality expertise and the feedback from delegates was excellent.” The 3M Unitek team would like to thank the speakers and delegates for their contribution and attendance at the MBT Symposium and we look forward to welcoming you to our events programme in 2014. The Bridge to Case Acceptance Lina Craven, Dynamic Perceptions What is a Treatment Coordinator? • A TC assumes responsibility for the new patient process. A good TC will manage all aspects of the patient journey from referral to case start and has the potential to increase your number of case starts. You may think the last thing you need in financially challenging times is a new member of staff. But think again. In a difficult financial climate, what a practice needs in order to thrive and prosper is to become more efficient, more competitive and more profitable. One way to do that is to introduce a Treatment Coordinator (TC) into the team, or if you already have one, to offer appropriate training. A TC is a relatively new role to the UK market, but in the US where the role is a central part of any orthodontic practice, it has added value to the patient experience, reduced in-chair time and increased case acceptance. The introduction of a well trained TC could change your entire approach to new patient care and potentially increase your practice profitability. • The TC is the first point of contact. People buy from people so the development of a relationship and establishing rapport between the TC and the new patient is crucial to the success of your conversion from new patient to start of treatment. • The TC informally welcomes the new patient and discusses their requirements prior to their consultation. This not only helps to build rapport, but also builds a better picture of the patient’s needs and wants. • It is recommended that TCs are present at the consultation to listen and understand clinically what is and isn’t possible and to allow them to form a better picture of how they will conduct a successful case presentation. • The TC carries out the case presentation. They will clarify and discuss treatment options with the patient, showing before and after photos of similar cases. They will discuss the informed consent, and remove any barriers or concerns the patient may have. • A TC will also explain the financial options and find the most suitable payment method to fit the patient’s needs. • A TC prepares the ‘walk-out’ pack. The value of a walk-out pack should not be under-estimated. It should reflect the values of the practice, including all information the patient requires, finance agreement or contract, diagnostic report, photographs of the patient (an excellent marketing tool), informed consent and anything else that will add value to the consultation. • A good TC follows up! Too many new patients are lost due to lack of follow-up. • A TC also provides monthly information on patient conversions to assist with strategic planning. All practices should have a patient journey tracker. A Winning Role Augmenting your team with a well trained Treatment Coordinator can reap tremendous rewards for you, the team and your patients. A TC’s tailored and personal approach to care, follow-up, and communication with patients fosters trust and can increase patient satisfaction and retention. Want 20% off every Incognito arch in 2014?
