For over 20 years, Wheatley Hills
Discount Wine & Spirits has been a
presence on Post Avenue in the
heart of Westbury Village.
Taking the word discount very
seriously, Roseann Kalb, owner of
this large, well-stocked and
well-organized liquor store says her
foremost goal is to keep her prices
among the lowest on Long Island,
while offering an extensive
selection of wines and spirits from
around the world. “When
people actually take the time to shop
and compare” she says “they find our everyday prices lower than
or equal to most
advertised sale prices at other stores.” Great
prices are just one reason Wheatley Hills was voted “Best of Long
Island 2015”
by the community.
Another reason is service. The management staff at Wheatley is
very knowledgeable and helpful, assisting even the most
discerning consumer in choosing the perfect wine to accompany
the perfect meal, or the perfect gift for a special someone. If you
still can’t find what you’re looking for in their vast inventory,
they will gladly special order any item. Customers can also
browse the store and read the staff’s “tasting notes” on many of
their featured wines. According to the Calendar on their website
@ www.wheatleywineandspirits.com, Wheatley offers tastings of
a varied selection of wines and spirits every weekend. Stop by the
store any Friday or Saturday between 4 & 7 pm for a free
sampling.
Roseann and her staff create lovely gift baskets in a variety of
sizes and price ranges. A longtime member of the BID and
Westbury/Carle Place Chamber of Commerce, Wheatley Hills
has also been a longtime supporter of local fire departments,
churches, synagogues, schools and other organizations, generously
donating their beautiful baskets as fund-raising raffle items.
Visit them at 193 Post Ave. Hours: Mon. thru Thurs. 9 am to
8 pm, Fri. & Sat. 9 am to 9 pm and Sun. 12 pm to 5 pm.

From Humble Beginnings
Dominick was tutored by his father,
Sime a master chef whose career
blossomed on luxury cruise liners
and in exclusive private clubs. His
father served as a chief chef of the
renowned Century Club where he
remained for many years. Dominick
began working in the Century Club
where he remained for five years,
working as a waiter, head waiter,
and assistant to the manager. His talents were thereafter nourished
in various restaurants as a waiter and maitre d’ until 1981 when he
opened the first Galleria
Restaurant in Westbury. It was immediately embraced by
sophisticated diners who remained as
loyal patrons until a fire destroyed the restaurant in 1984.
Dominick’s lifetime dream came into being at 238 Post Avenue in
Westbury. From the first shovel in the ground and its opening of its
doors to the public, Dominick designed, created and assembled the
all new Galleria. He reached out to waiters, captains and other personnel that he knew for years, modeling into an exciting, caring
team. It served its first diners in November 1984 and the response
was immediate.
The clientele of the first Galleria and the surrounding community
adopted the new restaurant. The word spread and appreciative
diners came from afar to savor the gracious service and fine cuisine.
A vestibule of stars greets patrons as they enter the Galleria with
pictures of famous movie and theatre celebrities that were the
recipients of Dominick’s special attention. Renowned names in
government, the law and theatre often grace the Galleria’s tables.
Dominick’s Credo: A fine restaurant is made up of many things;
ambiance, selective foods, tender preparation, gracious service, all
within a framework of leisure and care. To insure this, Dominick
personally selects all of the ingredients and supervises the kitchen,
assuring that nothing leaves without his personal approval.
Visit them at 238 Post Ave. Hours: Mon. thru Thurs. 11:30 am to
10:00 pm, Fri. 11:30 am to 11:00 pm, Sat. 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm
and Sun. 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
