LETTER FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOA
I would like to begin by stating that Trinity
Christian School is very fortunate to have Stan
Couey as our new Headmaster. This agreement
was reached during the 2011-12 school year, the
10th year under former Headmaster Rick
Johnson’s capable leadership. Mr. Couey has
shown a tremendous commitment to the Trinity
family for 13 years. I believe he will continue to
be a leader for our faculty and staff and a
Christian role model for our students. He has a
genuine desire to continue the family
environment of our school and will continue to
uphold our Christian values and high academic
standards.

From the beginning I believe God has had a plan
for our school, and year after year we see students learning and displaying
important Christian values. We have seen our graduates go out into the
world with a call on their lives for the cause of Christ. Our teachers and
coaches are committed to preparing tomorrow’s leaders for a challenging
world and I invite you to join in this commitment through prayer. What a
privilege it is to be able to pray together for our school as we seek to foster
Christian excellence in scholarship and character.

ensure that our students receive the best education possible and continue

LETTER FROM THE HEADMASTER
The 2011-12 school year marked the 42nd
year of operation in the life of Trinity
Christian School, with an opening day
enrollment of 398 students.
Our dedicated team of administrators,
faculty, and staff continue to do a great
ministry among the families who have
entrusted us with the education of their
children.
The Class of 2012, with 26 members, was
Trinity’s 37th graduating class. Their
successes have been numerous, and they
have an opportunity to make a real impact

throughout their lives. The number of TCS
graduates now approaches 850. In the pages of this Annual Report
are details of the accomplishments of these seniors as well as
others throughout our school.

After having served in various roles at Trinity for 13 years, I was
humbled and grateful to be selected during the course of the
2011-12 school year to serve as the new Headmaster at Trinity
Christian School upon the departure of Mr. Rick Johnson. In
a decade as Headmaster, he helped lead Trinity to great
accomplishments as we built on the foundation begun 42 years
ago when Trinity’s original families pursued the vision for a
Christian school in this area.

has continued to serve our school well. I am deeply appreciative

Academic Achievements
Trinity Christian School continues its efforts to provide a premier education to its students. Our curriculum is continually
reviewed to insure the preparation of our students for their next steps in life after their Trinity experience.
Our students are administered numerous standardized tests to monitor their progress. Students in Kindergarten through
8th grade take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS). Numerous students are selected to participate in the prestigious Duke
University Talent Identification Program (TIP) based on superior performance on such tests.
Students are required to take the EXPLORE and PLAN tests (divisions of the ACT) and the PSAT in preparation for the SAT.
Trinity students’ test scores have enabled them to pursue their post secondary degrees at the colleges and universities of
their choice, with many being accepted during the early admissions process.
Junior Beta Club Convention
The Junior Beta Club attended the state
Junior Beta convention in Macon, November
17 and 18, 2011. Students were selected to
compete in a variety of areas. Julia King
received 1st place for her oil painting that
she presented, which then allowed her to
enter the National Competition.

Middle School Science Fair
Our Middle School students participated in the Heart of Georgia RESA
Regional Science Fair held in February at the Aviation Campus of Middle
Georgia College. Fifteen projects received awards with seven projects
winning first place honors: Allen Mills and JT Knowles, Jackson Brack,
Madison Mertz, Claire Gay, Myles Mixon, Jordan Moulis, Savannah Hutto and
Madison Tate. These students were invited to participate at the state level
at the University of Georgia in April. This was a great experience for all who
attended, and our students represented Trinity Christian School very well.
Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS)
Trinity Christian School annually
administers the ITBS to EVERY student in
K5 through the 8th grade. Our students
continue to out-perform the majority of
students who are administered this test
throughout the United States.
DAR Essay Awards
Presbyterian College Junior Fellows
The Presbyterian College Junior Fellows Program recognizes high school
juniors who have achieved high academic goals and is based upon an
excellent cumulative GPA through the first semester of the junior year and
a minimum SAT score. PC Junior Fellows automatically receive academic
scholarships to PC should they choose to attend college there. Daniel
Alligood, Brooks Nuss, and Cuyler Warnock were recognized as the
2011-12 recipients.
Each year, the DAR (Daughters of the
American Revolution) sponsors an
essay contest for middle school students.
The 2011 winners selected by the John
Laurens Chapter were all Trinity Christian
School students: Griffin Hill (6th grade),
Abby Embro (7th grade), & Madison Tate
(8th grade).
The University of Georgia Certificate of Merit
The University of Georgia Certificate of Merit recognizes juniors who excel
academically and rank at the top of their class. Daniel Alligood and Cuyler
Warnock received the award for 2011-12.

The Furman Scholar Award
The Furman Scholars program seeks to
honor high school juniors who exhibit
strong academic potential, demonstrate
leadership potential, and show significant
involvement in extracurricular activities
and community service. Daniel Alligood,
Madison Tanner, and Cuyler Warnock
received the award for 2011-12.
Dual Credit Courses at
Middle Georgia College
Eleven of our 26 Seniors were enrolled
at Middle Georgia College through our
Dual Credit Program. Classes offered
were College Algebra, Trigonometry,
Pre-Calculus, and Composition I and II.
The cumulative college average was a 92
for the 11 Seniors.
Class of 2012 Scholarships
One of the benefits of Trinity Christian School is the high level of academic success realized by most students. The Class
of 2012 achieved many scholastic accomplishments enabling members of the class to qualify for scholarships from
academic institutions as well as local, state, and national organizations. The most significant of these include the HOPE
Scholarship. 85%, the highest ever, of Trinity graduates from the class of 2012 qualified for this scholarship enabling them
to be eligible for tuition and other benefits at numerous colleges and universities throughout the state of Georgia. Below is

recognizing the Senior at each high school who achieves the highest score in a single sitting on the SAT.

Fine Arts
Trinity Christian School continues to emphasize
the development of the whole student and is
committed to its Fine Arts programs. Students
are able to participate in ensemble, literary, and
drama instruction. The use of a daily Activity
Period allows time for the instruction of students
for performances and competitions. Our Fine
Arts students participated in One Act competition,
presented “A Crusader Christmas” in December,
and performed throughout the community
including the United Way Kickoff Breakfast.

Athletic Accomplishments
Trinity Christian School continued to excel in athletic competitions during the 2011-12 year. Our
student-athletes competed in the GISA AAA classification and represented Trinity well both on
and off the court or field. Colossians 3:23 states: “And whatsoever you do, do it heartily as to the
Lord and not unto men.” This is the TCS athletic philosophy.

2012 Mission Trip to the
Dominican Republic
This spring marked the sixth consecutive
year for the school sponsored mission trip.
Twenty-four high school students, along
with four faculty members and one alumni
student, participated in the trip to the
Dominican Republic, March 28 - April 3,
partnering with SCORE International.
Annual St. Patrick’s Youth Rally
Trinity Christian School hosted the 21st annual Youth Rally in conjunction
with the St. Patrick’s Festival. The event was held on Wednesday, March
14, 2012. “The GYM” (Great Youth Movement) along with Jeremy Ikner
from Bethlehem Baptist Church led worship at the 2012 Youth Rally. This
official event of the St. Patrick’s Festival is always an exciting time.

Annual Fund
Trinity Christian School has been blessed by individuals who understand the value of the Trinity experience. These families
and friends recognize the need for additional financial support for the school to continue its commitment to excellence and
the continued provision of opportunities for its students. The goal for the Annual Fund is $100,000 in donations and 100%
participation of Trinity families. Achieving these goals allows Trinity to pursue additional funds available from grants and
other resources. We acknowledge those who participated in the 2011-12 Annual Fund Drive running from June 1, 2011

Moving Forward at 40 Capital Campaign
The Moving Forward at 40 Capital Campaign, instituted in 2011-12, is a component of the 2020
Vision for the school. The Board of Directors has approved and continues to endorse the
Master Plan for Trinity Christian School which outlines long term improvements to our campus
and infrastructure. Donations received during the 2011-12 fiscal year represent the fulfillment
of commitments to these projects as well as new support to the Capital Campaign. The gifts
received offset the financial obligations incurred with completed projects and pave the way for
the commitment to future projects.

Fundraising Efforts
As in all independent schools today, additional, private support is an essential element in providing financial stability.
The cost to educate a child continues to rise, and the task of providing an exceptional education within tuition constraints
becomes increasingly difficult. Fundraising efforts provide the resources needed to offer the best possible environment
for our students, the latest in technology, and the educational and extra-curricular opportunities necessary to provide a
complete education. Trinity Christian School operates annual fundraisers, a yearly Annual Fund, as well as major gift
and capital campaigns to meet the needs of the school and its students.
The TCS Athletic Booster Club provides
auxiliary funding for the support of our athletic
programs. Their direct contribution to the TCS
operating budget offsets expenses incurred
through the athletic department budget, including
a commitment to the Claude Graham Athletic
Complex and the New Concession Building.
Parent Teacher Fellowship
Through fundraising efforts, this organizations
generates funds to help offset operating
expenses. This year the PTF provided Bibles
for graduates, Sock Hop entertainment, and
AR bowling party.
Kroger Earning Plus Learning
Trinity Christian School continues to benefit
from the partnership established with the
Kroger Company as they support education
in the local communities.

The Board of Directors, recognizing the need to supplement
tuition income with fundraising efforts that could be supported by
all Trinity families, established an Annual Sustaining Fee, set at
$800 per family for 2011-12.
The Annual Sustaining Fee was assessed to the accounts of all
families in two $400 increments, with the opportunity to offset
the fee through participation in the Magazine Drive, Auction
Raffle Ticket sales, and UnitedScrip Card sales.
The 27th Annual TCS Auction was held on April 14, 2012.
Income generated from items sold is used to supplement
tuition income to provide for the growing needs of our school.
GOAL Partnership
Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program, Inc. is recognized by the Georgia Department of Education
as a student scholarship organization under Georgia law. It is a nonprofit corporation incorporated
under Georgia law and is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3)
organization. SSOs are funded through contributions from individual and corporate citizens who
may then claim a dollar-for-dollar tax credit against their state income tax liability. The following
individuals and corporations have REDIRECTED a portion of their state tax dollars, totaling nearly
$120,000.00, to directly benefit Trinity Christian School.

Financial Analysis
Fiscal Management
Trinity Christian School continues to operate within the framework of sound fiscal
management principles. The fiscal year is June 1 – May 31. A preliminary budget is
prepared under the direction of the Headmaster in conjunction with the Board Treasurer
and is approved by the Board of Directors. The financial office is overseen by the
Headmaster, Business Manager, and Finance Office Assistant. The budget is comprised
of 10 categories with over 75 various cost centers and in excess of 300 detail line items
to specifically track and record all income and expenses. Following each fiscal year, our
financial records are submitted for review to the accounting firm of Thigpen, Jones,
Seaton, and Company. A copy of this report is provided to our Board of Directors.
Additionally, accreditation standards require the school to be fully audited, at minimum,
every five years. The last audit was completed during the 2010-11 fiscal year by the
accounting firm of Wright & Wright in Sandersville.

functional expenses, and cash flows for the years then
ended, in accordance with Statements on Standards for
Accounting and Review Services issued by the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
A compilation is limited to presenting in the form of
financial statements information that is the representation
of management.”

The strong enrollment numbers at Trinity are attributed to
several factors, one of which is a balanced Financial Aid
program approved by our Board of Directors. This program
has three specific areas: GOAL Scholarship, Tuition
Assistance, and Pastor Partnership. It is designed to bridge
the gap for families who demonstrate financial need and
desire the environment that our school provides.
• 112 students from 75 families received Financial Aid
through these programs during the 2011-12 year.
• The total amount of Financial Aid provided to families
through these programs was $277,335, with the
following breakdown:
◊ GOAL Scholarship $148,961 (at no cost to Trinity
as these Scholarships were funded by redirected
tax dollars contributed to GOAL)
◊ Tuition Assistance $77,740
◊ Pastor’s Partnership $50,634
• The revenue generated from 2011-12 Financial Aid was a
total of $563,633 ($414,672 from families and $148,961
from GOAL)
