The children enjoyed the recent snow while the staff and I
were relieved that school

all those who helped clear
paths and made such an effort
to get to school. Special
thanks to father Mr Morgan,

U11 and U10 Netball v St Catherine’s
First match of the Spring Term
report!
After the dreadful weather at
the beginning of term which
resulted in two matches and
our U10 tournament being cancelled, we finally swung into
action with U11 and U10 Netball matches against St Catherine's on the 29th January at
Rydes Hill.
The U11's were playing fast and
skilful opponents and are to be
commended for maintaining
their determined effort right to
the end. The lack of practice
due to both the weather and
entrance exams contributed to
the U11's not getting into their
stride quickly enough. By the
final quarter, the U11's had
narrowed the scoring gap but
overall lost 5-16.
The U10's played good steady
Netball and had bursts of outstanding downcourt passing
which resulted in goals. They
are all to be commended for
their team commitment in both
attack and defence and for
carrying on despite falls and
injuries! They thoroughly deserved their winning result of
10-6. Very well played girls!
Thank you to all the parents
who provided the team teas
and grateful thanks to Mrs
Chapman who set up the teas
so beautifully in the Hall and
then to the spectating parents
who had to move it all down to
the dining room! Thank you as
well to Mr Rob for setting up
and taking down the floodlights.
Thrinethra performing at the Bhavan
Thrinethra took part last weekend
in the Founder’s Day performance
at Bhavan London, the largest institute for Indian art and culture outside India itself.
There she danced with a group of
adults in an intricately choreographed, five-minute display of
traditional dance technique, in
what was a stunning performance.
If we are lucky she may be dancing
her part again for us at an assembly in the near future, but in the
meantime enjoy these stills from
the video of the show!
Well done, Thrinethra!

Cross-country
On Friday 1 February our cross country finally
got off to a good start, and after all the bad
weather the sun was shining for us!
With eight enthusiastic
and excited runners, we
set off to run on
Whitmore Common. Mr
Sutcliff headed off with
the top group running at
a very good pace and
Mrs Chapman took the
middle group close behind, while Mrs Morris
and her group paced
themselves.
After meeting with the
first muddy patch all
caution was lost and the
girls laughed and
squealed their way round the course. I apologise
to all parents if they could not recognise their
muddy daughters at the end, but we did have so
much fun. Hopefully at this
rate we will all be fit and
ready to run at our next
cross-country meet!
If you have not signed up
for cross-country and
would like to give it a try,
please fill out the necessary form and come join
us on a Friday afternoon
from 3:40- 4:45pm.
Well done to all the brave
girls, you were champions.
— Mrs D Morris

Thoughts for the Week
Lord, help us to remember that the
important things in life are love,
friendship and honesty;
and that all the money and material
things in the world will not make us
happy if we are not right in ourselves.
Give us each day a sense of how You
would like us to be; so that we may use
our lives in a way that pleases You.
