www.acs-england.co.uk Part of ACS International Schools, London, England Boarding at ACS Experience the difference A home away from home ACS Cobham's boarding house is Europe's premier school residency offering both the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and US College Board Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Located at the heart of our magnificent 128-acre Surrey campus, and only 30 minutes from one of the world’s great capitals, London, our secure separate wing accommodation is home to boys and girls aged 12 to 18. Every ACS boarding student is assigned a resident teacher/supervisor who will promote their independent learning skills, monitor and guide each student’s academic progress, and deal promptly and sympathetically with any personal situation that may arise. There are also school Counsellors and a campus Nurse, plus six resident House Parents, including the Head of Boarding, Ryn Brandse, and his wife Ann. We are proud of our multicultural identity, and celebrate the things that make us different as an integral part of boarding life. All our students are aware that they are respected as individuals, and our staff actively support their personal, social and educational development into responsible global citizens. The boarding house has separate wing accommodation for boys and girls. All student rooms are ergonomically designed for two, with an en-suite bathroom, telephone and individual study desks with wireless internet access throughout the building. All students have use of the community lounges, games rooms, a boarders’ dining hall for breakfast and dinner, and four student kitchenettes. At lunch students use the school’s main Food Court complex which serves a healthy and nutritionally balanced diet that fully embraces the international diversity of our student body. Exceptional campus recreational facilities include soccer and rugby fields, softball and baseball diamonds, an all-weather Olympicsized athletics track, six tennis courts, and a six-hole golf course. In addition, boarders also have use of our state-of-the-art Sports Centre complete with an international arena for basketball and volleyball, gymnasium, a 25-metre competition-class swimming pool, fitness suite with weighttraining, dance & aerobics studio, a sports merchandise shop, and a cafeteria. The academic programme With 30 years’ experience delivering outstanding IB and AP exam results, ACS has established a tradition of securing its graduates places at the finest universities around the world, including Oxford, Cambridge, the London School of Economics, Imperial, Harvard, Yale, MIT, Stanford, Delft, Keio and McGill. Annual activities & events At ACS we understand that a rich boarding experience must include a wide variety of fun and educational extracurricular activities, and we encourage all our students to get involved and take advantage of the rewarding opportunities on offer. While we are proud of the high academic Historic visits standards achieved by our graduates, our educational philosophy has always been to promote the ‘whole’ student. Our programme is designed to support a developmental, student-centred approach, with provision of additional English Language tuition according to individual learning needs. The Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Kew Gardens, Hampton Court, Windsor Castle, Blenheim Palace, Portsmouth Historic Docks, Lord’s Cricket Ground, The Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club, Kensington Palace, The Royal Pavilions Brighton and Chelsea Flower Show are all close by. Accredited by The New England Association of Schools and Colleges Museums Authorised by The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), to offer The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) Natural History, Museum of Rugby, Imperial War Museum, National Portrait Gallery and Brooklands Motor Museum are within easy reach.
