STATISTICS
- In Erie County in 2012, more than 12,000 incidents of domestic
violence were reported to law enforcement.
- The Justice Department reports that, on average, four to five
women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends every day in
the United States.
- 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men will be abused by their intimate
partner in their lifetime.
- Victims will attempt to leave four to seven times before they
succeed.
- Over 1.75 million workdays has been loss as a result of domestic
violence each year.
- There are 16,800 homicides and 2.2 million medically treated
injuries due to intimate partner violence which has costs totally
$37 billion dollars annually.
- Intimate partner homicides account for roughly 50% of women
killed each year.
