The Uganda Model United Nations (UMUN 2012) was scheduled to take place from 9th –12th August 2012. It officially started that evening with the arrival of participants from Kampala; members from UNAU’s University and secondary schools. At free zone hotel participants had the first address. The Secretary General Mr. Baguma Tinkasimire Richard. Welcomed the team and introduced them and open the training session; usually the first programme on where participants are enlightened about what is expected of them. Mr. Baguma introduced Mr. Mamadu Balde, a research graduate student from Sussex University, UK. Mamadu is a UNA-UK members currently doing his internship taining T the the UNAU Secreatarit. He made a presentation about the UN security council thus enlightening about the members about the origin and ways of the security council, the main focus of UMUN 2012. Following after that, was a delegate and officals training, conducted by Namukulwa Judith and Monica Akech participants were taught of the behaviors and expectation of the conference. Muwanguzi George (founder president UNAU) welcomed and thanked participants for the great spirit displayed towards UMUN and wished the team an educative function. UMUN 2012 Encouraged the youth to keep TREEfocus and participate in related activities in order to attain great PLANTING experience. UMUN 2012 planted a number of trees at Gulu University and donated some to primary school pupils that took part as observers in the conference. Below are footages of the tree activities. Members giving sweets to children during Delegate from India. the visit to the IDP Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) UMUN 2012-NEWS Page 3 LETTERS FROM DELEGATES ABOUT UMUN 2012 Hi friends, words can not express how i feel but right from the time I got to the bus, excitement was at its peak, i enjoyed the company of honourable delegates, loved being at the IDP, and oh my transa rock hotel!! the most heart breaking moment was SYMON OKWI when i had to say goodbye, i really miss you all!! THE ORGANISING TEAM The team that makes the function what the participants and guests appreciate is normally not appreciated. This is the organizing team. Whatever the function is from social to official this team is the back bone of the whole even and it needs to be greatly appreciated. UMUN 2012 has taught me a number of things but the main being able to thank and appreciate the people that will not appear at the front the ones that are in the back stage of this Etiye mabelle? The recently concluded UMUN workshop was a marvelous event that everyone appreciates and lives to remember, the ones who do the running around, those who tremendous success for me.The facilitators were make sure that the participants are comfortable and are in great, with a strong methodology, great facilitation good health, we should not forget to thanks those who accomtechniques and capabilities which enabled rapid modated us, those that made the meals we had for all those HAFSA TEMBO resolution of issues, and enhanced probability of days we were away from home and those who spent sleepless MICKEY identifying the right options for the future. Being part of the energetic team that put together and played a big role in organizing the UMUN is the THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! best thing that has happened this year. There was lots of learning and I believe the whole team was empowered. Am thankful to the almighty that the UMUN 2012 was successful, thanks to the organizing team, the participants Delegates and Officials), the supASABA LINDA porters and the hosts (Gulu University) of the Uganda Model UN 2012. UMUN 2012-NEWS Page 4 I was very happy when we departed from Kampala to Gulu because I was looking forward to seeing Karuma falls and also monkeys around the forest of Karuma.
