Page A10 Thursday, August 6, 2015 Nevada Journal The Chamber Times Over a Coke with the Chamber Director Consider volunteering to help with celebration By Lynn Scarlett We are 3 weeks away from Lincoln Highway Days and there are still volunteer opportunities. Review the chart below and please call the chamber office, 382-6538, if you are able to help with any of these tasks. Parade registrations are available at the Chamber office – the cost to participate is $10 until August 21. After August 21 the cost increases to $20. There is still room for more craft and food vendors. Registration forms are available at the Chamber office or visit the Chamber website (www.nevadaiowa.org). We have a couple of new events during Lincoln Highway Days this year: a kids tractor pull thanks to Van Wall Equipment, a hot air balloon tethered ride thanks to RE/MAX Real Estate Concepts, classic cartoons at The Talent Factory thanks to Hunziker and Associates, and a bologna and sweet corn feed at J & J Holding along with an antique car show! Don’t miss any of the fun the weekend of August 28. A complete schedule will be in the August 26 Nevada Journal. Several thousand people will be coming to Nevada on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – let’s make this Lincoln Highway Days celebration the best one they have ever seen by showcasing our community! Let’s VOLUNTEER, let’s participate in the parade, let’s see the great entertainment, let’s eat the food and visit the craft booths, and let’s have fun with our family, friends and neighbors at all the events planned that weekend! Watch the Nevada Journal and listen to KASI in Ames and KFJB/KIX 101.1 in Marshalltown for upcoming events. You can always call the Chamber at 382-6538 or visit our website www.nevadaiowa.org if you need more information. Welcome to the Board On July 21, two new Chamber Board members were welcomed: Jarod Pedersen of Pedersen Insurance and Financial Services. and Laura Bell of Youth and Shelter Services of Eastern Story County. Each will serve a three-year term, with the option to serve a second three-year term.
