The money will be used to support an interactive learning center and cafe at the Y, which will provide an opportunity for the public to access online wellness education and nutritional guidance as well as participate in fitness activities. The Westlake Villagebased company owned by billionaire David Murdock has now given a total of $2 million to the Triunfo YMCA project. Murdock has personally given $11 million for Westlake Village Community Park, which is a joint initiative by the city of Westlake Village and the Southeastern Ventura County YMCA. "Mr. Murdock continues to help keep pushing it forward," Triunfo Y Executive Director Ronnie Stone said Friday. "Support has been great, and other donors are coming forward. In the last month, I've met about 50 people who didn't know about the project and are ~ow out there fundraising and soliciting donations." Stone said Murdock and Ed Hogan of the Hogan Family Foundation also reached out to Steven Hilton, president and CEO of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation in Agoura Hills, and were successful in getting a donation of $100,000 from the philanthropic organization. "The foundation DONATION from 1B on a national scale and around the world, we do on occasion partner with local institutions, as well. We're pleased to support the Triunfo YMCA and help create a gathering place for our community to learn, grow and thrive," said Ed Cain, vice president of granfprograms for the foundation. Other major donations so far include a pledge of $1 million from former Westlake Village Mayor Doug Yarrow and his wife, Penny, for the fitness center. Westlake Village has spent $15 million on grading the pad and installing utilities and basic landscaping on the 18-acre hilltop site above Thousand Oaks Boulevard, west of Lindero Canyon Road. The city allocated $5.7 million more in its 2013-14 budget for the first phase of construction, which is underway on the west CONTRIBUTED IMAGE An artist's rendering of the Dole Interactive Learning Center inside the future Triunfo YMCA.
