THE OPEL BRAND
Back in 1862, Adam Opel had a vision of creating a brand
that would question the norm and push boundaries in its
quest for ingenuity. And so the Opel brand was born.
From humble beginnings – in a small workshop in
Rüsselsheim, Germany – manufacturing sewing machines
and bicycles, Opel steadily grew from strength to strength
once it shifted its focus solely to cars. This was done for
one reason only: Wir leben Autos. And, by living cars for
the next half-century and more, Opel became Germany’s
largest car manufacturer by 1913.
Opel continued this upward trend, partnering with General
Motors back in 1929 and by 1936 boasted an annual
production of 120 923 vehicles, making Opel the largest
vehicle manufacturer in Europe.
Opel’s incredible performance and innovations didn’t
stop there – they were the first car manufacturer to offer
a complete range of models equipped with catalytic
converters, first to equip all their passenger cars with
full-sized airbags for the driver and front-seat passenger
and the first car maker to combine the benefits of fourvalve technology with direct-injection and turbo charging
in a diesel passenger car.
To this day, Opel strives to push the boundaries of
performance, safety, design and innovation. It’s these
pillars that have helped Opel continue to offer a range of
vehicles that cater to the love we all have for cars.

German engineering, combined with design that
is both exciting and accessible, hasn’t. It’s that
special part of our DNA, which has helped us
create cars that push boundaries, and made those
cars an essential part of people’s everyday lives.
Another passion of ours is innovation. The exterior
of any Opel makes a bold design statement, but
the true genius lies beneath. The revolutionary,
new ecoFLEX engines cut down fuel consumption,
while offering high-revving excitement and driver
appeal – which means, when you begin to feel
the need for speed, you’ll find more power in the
engine and more fuel in the tank. But, ecoFLEX
is more than just an economic powerhouse, it is
also an engine that provides cleaner, greener
motoring.
And continuing to push the innovation envelope,
a number of Opel models offer all the first-class
technology you need:
State-of-the-art Lighting Solutions
Cornering headlights provide additional light
in the area to the side of the vehicle, making
night-time parking and turning safer. Autodimming automatically dims the headlights, when
oncoming lights are detected.
Stop/Start Engine Control
A Stop/Start system means that, instead of idling

at a traffic light or in a traffic jam, the engine
stops when the driver engages the neutral gear,
and releases the clutch pedal. When traffic starts
moving again, pressing the clutch pedal restarts
the engine.
Advanced Park Assist 2 (APA 2)
Automatically alerts you to a suitable parking
space (parallel or perpendicular), and then
manoeuvres the car into the space at exactly the
right angle. This is done completely hands-free,
all the driver needs to do is work the pedals
and gears.
Rear Park Assist Camera
So you can see exactly where you’re going, when
in reverse.
Blind Spot Alert
An ultrasonic system which helps drivers avoid
crashing, by continuously screening the blind spots
to the sides of the vehicle.
Hill Start Assist
When the foot brake is released, Hill Start
Assist prevents backward movement, until the
accelerator is pressed, thus allowing for stress-free
hill starts.
IntelliLink Technology
A 7” touchscreen infotainment hub, allowing
you almost full hands-free control over several
audio and phone functions, via the steering
wheel controls and Bluetooth®. Opel’s IntelliLink
technology can also be linked with a number of
useful, everyday apps, such as:

This is how we would describe the evolutionary genius
of the fifth generation Opel Corsa.
Cornering Brake Control (CBC)
With its best-in-class engine, the new 12-million
bestseller gives you that big-car feel, through new
drive trains and suspension, lower centre of gravity and
steering refinement. But let’s not forget about Corsa’s
interior, from the premium quality and feel of the seats,
to the elegance of the brushed chrome, the new Corsa
has redefined its design concept. It has also further
extended its brilliance, by adding more connectivity
and convenience, through Opel’s IntelliLink technology.
Drag Torque Control (DTC)
But if ‘more driving satisfaction’ is what you’re looking
for, then look no further than the Corsa’s 3-cyclinder,
1.0 Turbo ecoFLEX Direct Injection engines, delivering
85kW (115 hp) of power, with significantly reduced
engine noise and vibration. The result is a 3-cyclinder
powerhouse, which outperforms many 4-cyclinder
units, in terms of refinement, power and efficiency.
On extreme curves, at high velocity, the ESP® Plus slows
down the car to a stable condition, and prevents roll
over.
Not one to skimp on safety, Opel has ensured that the
new Corsa comes with the latest generation Electronic
Stability Program Plus (ESP® Plus), which includes the
following functions:
Hill Start Assist (HSA)
Straight Line Stability Control (SLS)
Detects instability when braking, and adjusts brake
pressure accordingly.

pressure on individual tires.
Prevents loss of grip, due to engine brake torque on
slippery roads.
Brake Assist System (BAS)
Gives a higher deceleration gain, even to unskilled

Hydraulic Brake Fade Assist (HBFA)
Automatically raises braking pressure, to compensate
for potential brake fade.
Prevents downhill movement of the car when taking off
on an uphill slope, without using the handbrake.
All this new technology ensures that this new Corsa
is a car that is safer, more economic, and supremely
easy to drive, in ever more complex and crowded city

As the name suggests, the Cosmo is in a
universe of its own … where the dominant
theme is elegance, thanks to the GRAPHIK
Black Cloth upholstery, with Morrocana Side
Bolsters. But it also features an impressive
array of tech, like Bi-Xenon lights with
cornering light control, an auto-dimming rear
view mirror and cruise control with ESP Plus
and Hill Start Assist.
The Cosmo doesn’t just come with incredible
safety features however – it also boasts Opel’s
first-class infotainment system, IntelliLink.
IntelliLink operates with both iOS and Android
systems, and you can use the 7” touchscreen,
steering wheel controls or voice controls, to
connect quickly and easily.
Cosmo also comes standard with Blind Zone
Assist, which helps you avoid accidents by
constantly screening the blind spots to the
sides of the vehicle. It will also warn you when
