A D - A S T R A AURORA PRESENTS S TAR B URST Celebrate with us We are celebrating the 10th anniversary of our school this year and to mark this special occasion we are hosting our very own and first ever interschool cultural fest STARBURST. One whole, grand fun filled day of festivities. This is the first affair of this kind and this magnitude in the whole of Navi Mumbai. Providing a platform for students to compete with peers, a place where students can showcase their talents and skills through a wide array of events. A place where students can move away from monotony! Where they can have fun! A fest of the students, for the students and by the students! Organised and presented to you by the North Point School Alumni Association "Aurora". 1 The interschool festival calendar has begun. Participating schools will compete in 7 events to win one glorious trophy. Starburst will host some of the most prestigious schools from all over Navi Mumbai. The events include fine arts, literary arts, performing arts, sports and more. Set for the 29th of JUNE, STARBURST promises one day of high-energy events and performances. All the details with regard to registration and all the queries will be answered on the registered phone numbers (page 12). Identity cards will be given to the schools for the respective participants, teachers and non-participants, after registration of events. 2 GENERAL RULES : Each student can participate in not more than 2 events, provided H the timings for the events do not coincide. Participants should refer to the schedule on page 11 for detailed H timings of events before entering their names for multiple events. Kindly note that the schedule may be subject to change on the final day. Each teacher, participant and non-participant should have a valid H STARBURST identity card. A maximum of 6 teachers may accompany the contingent on the day. H Only students from class 6 and above can participate in the events. H A maximum of 10 non-participants can come from a school. In case H the number of non-participants exceeds 10, a fee of Rs.50/- extra nonparticipant shall be applicable. The trophies will be awarded on the basis of the following point H system : • FIRST PLACE : 10 POINTS • SECOND PLACE : 7 POINTS • THIRD PLACE : 5 POINTS • PARTICIPATION : 2 POINTS In case of a tie, both the teams will be awarded the same number of H points. Absenteeism relates only to those events for which a school has H registered its participants in advance but has failed to participate in the event (this is different from non-participation where a school has not registered for the event. No points will be deducted for nonparticipation) To avoid these negative points, a non-participant or another H participant can substitute for an absentee by reporting at the venue of the event with the teacher-in-charge. 3 Every participant should report to the respective 'event heads' at the H venue at least 15 minutes prior the scheduled time of the event. The entire contingent must report together at 8am on the day. H No participant will be allowed into the school premises later during the day. No member of the contingent (participating /non-participating) shall H enter the school in their school uniform or with their school ID card. Participants should not reveal their school identity during the course H of the event. The judge's decision for all the events at STARBURST shall be final, H binding and not subject to question. Disciplinary action will be taken against students indulging in any H kind of misconduct/vandalism. Std 8-10. H Duration: 2 hours + 10 minutes. H No geometrical instruments allowed. H Colours should be a proper blend of warm and cool colours. H A3 canvas will be provided. H Participants can carry any type of paints (oil paints, acrylic, poster, H water paints etc.). The participants are requested to get the other requirements with H them like a rag cloth, pallet, brushes, cups, bowls, etc. FUTSAL (Football) Participation: A team of 3 players with no substitutes and goalkeepers H allowed. Std 6-10. The game will last for 10 minutes. Each half will be of 5 minutes. H Registrations will be done on a 'first come-first serve' basis. The first 16 H schools will be allowed to participate. The basic rules are that of European football. A few rules have been H modified which will be informed to the teams on the day of the event. REVOLUTION (Debate) Participation: one team of two students. Std 8-10. H Round One Topic: "Freedom of Speech is a hypothetical concept in India" In this round the participants are judged purely on their speaking skills H and their ability to make their point heard in a room. The participants will be divided into two teams and then will be H expected to debate for or against the topic. This allotment will be made by us at random. At the end of this round the contestants will be allowed to make a H statement wherein they are to specify their personal view. It is not compulsory but will reflect either positively or negatively in the scoring. 6 Round Two H This round will be a classic group discussion. The participants remaining after the elimination process in Round One will be asked to discuss on a topic. H The aim of this is to come to a consensus. A verbal resolution will be passed in the room. The aim of the participant is to put forth their view and make their case to the participants and the judge who will also act as a moderator to the discussion. H The vote on the resolution will be called on by the judge. The judge may request a worded resolution which will be drafted based on the consensus arising out of the discussion. H Contestants will be judged on the soundness of the argument, their oratory skills and their willingness to incorporate ideas to arrive at a consensus. H Topic of round two to be announced on the day of the event. H Uses of objectionable language or gestures are grounds for disqualification. H Contestants are advised to stay updated with current events. H Contestants have to rely on the resources provided to them, and not use their own resources during the event. H Use of mobile phones and other electronic devices is strictly prohibited during the event. STEP-IT-UP (Dance) H Participation - one team of 8-12 students per school. Std 6 onwards. H Duration: 3- minutes. H The performance has to be based on a FUSION OF ONE INDIANCLASSICAL AND ONE WESTERN DANCE FORM. H NO live music will be allowed. H Eliminations will be conducted on the day of the event itself. H The use of background props is NOT permitted. However, the use of props in the performance is permitted and no points shall be awarded for effective utilization of the same. H There is no restriction on the number of props used. H Please carry the soundtrack in an .mp3 format in a CD and a pen drive. H The participants are not allowed to perform on Bollywood songs. H Explicit lyrics will NOT be acceptable. 7 SHERLOCKED (Treasure Hunt) James Moriarty has struck again. This time, the gold reserves of the Bank of London. Inspector Lestrade has so far been unable to come to any solid conclusion and has turned yet again to Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. Now it is up to you to retrieve the nation's wealth and catch the criminal mastermind; Moriarty. H Participation: one team of two students. Std 8 onwards. H The event will be physically as well as mentally challenging. So it is advised that the team members be a balance of both physical and mental vigour. It is a full day event. Students registering for this event will NOT be allowed to register for any other event. H Teams are NOT allowed any sort of communication with anyone outside the team. H Teams found breaking this rule will be immediately disqualified. For this very reason please instruct your friends beforehand to NOT approach you during the event. H Also participants will NOT be allowed to carry mobile phones during the event. Access to library and internet will NOT be provided. H The team members have to be together for the entire duration of the event. Splitting up will attract a penalty or even disqualification. H Wear casual attire and sport shoes. H The fastest team wins. THE BIG BAND THEORY (Band Event) H One band of maximum 6 students, per school. Std 6 onwards. H Participants will get 3 minutes for the set up, and 5 minutes for performing. H If the time-frame (set-up time and/or performance time) is exceeded, points will be deducted. H The participants will have to perform a pop song in a rock style/ genre, or rock song in pop style/genre. The style should be distinctly rock/pop. H NO recorded music will be allowed; which includes karaoke, recorded rhythms or beats. H Use of profanity in the songs is strictly prohibited. H A standard drum kit will be provided in which parts can be added (in the set up time itself). Two amplifiers and two microphones will also be provided. The team members can bring their own instruments. 8 LAN LORDS (Gaming Event) Participation : Std 8 onwards. Counter Strike : One team of 5 students Need for Speed : One participant Note: Registration for this event is on a 'first come-first serve' basis. COUNTER STRIKE RULES: • 1st round will be knife round. • For the knife round, map will be 1_hp. The winner of the knife round picks the side they want to play first (CT or T). • Matches will be played 5 on 5. • The map list for the tournament is: • De_dust2 • De_inferno • De korfez • Automatic snipers (D/Au1, Krieg550), tactical shield and smoke grenades are strictly not allowed. • General rules settings: • Starting Money:$16,000 • Spectate is OFF, fade to block is ON • Map Time :3 minutes • C4 Timer:45 seconds • Freeze Time:5 seconds • Buy Time:30 seconds • Friendly Fire: OFF • Team messages are allowed. • If disconnection occurs during a match then scores till the last round will continue and starting money will be decided by the organizers. • Playing with fewer than 5 players in any match is permitted with captain's agreement. • Use of particular console commands will be informed on the day of event. • Players may bring their own headphones. 9 NEED FOR SPEED RULES: • The race track, cars to be used in the game will be declared on the day of the event. • Each race will have a maximum of 4 participants. TYPE OF ROUNDS: • Easy and Zippy: There will be a circuit given to shortlist the participation. The winner of each race would proceed for the next round. • Knock'em out: Knockout races would be conducted with high traffic. The winners will qualify for the final round. RACE TO FINISH: A final sprint and circuit races with high traffic will be held to decide the ultimate winner by winning both sprint & circuit races. (No Drag Race).
