Decorative Living Days with CAROLINE ZOOB
Decorative Living Days with If you have resolved to make 2014 a year in which you will allow yourself creative time out, then you may be interested in coming along to my Decorative Living Days. As in my book, the Hand Stitched Home, I want to show people who may never have embroidered before that painting with their needle is easy, and wonderfully absorbing. You will have the fun of working with vintage textiles, haberdashery and mixed media materials which I have collected over many years. Together, we will make heirloom decorative items to keep for yourself or to give as gifts that are sure to be treasured. Each course will be held in the comfortable surroundings of a private house near Guildford, Surrey. The price includes materials (vintage textiles and antique papers), templates and instructions, refreshments and a light two-course lunch. No complicated fancy stitches, it is designed for people who have never stitched before, or may not have stitched for many years. The morning will consist of a sewing bee around a table, practising various stitches on antique French linen, and in the afternoon you will make a start on an embroidered picture. Some may even finish their picture! A lovely relaxing day, with all materials included. Some vintage textiles will be available for hand stitched applique if people want to have a try at this technique. Involves a variety of skills, all of which can be learned on the day – stitching, machining, designing and collaging. Wear old clothes and bring an apron and any personal ephemera you might like to incorporate. A Handmade Christmas Working with antique textiles and papers, using scissors, glue and stitching, you can design your Christmas card to scan and print, make gift tags, a paper-based advent calendar, simple paper decorations and gift wrapping ideas. A creative and productive day with lots of treasures to take home to give or keep.
