FCDS Dedicates Sutton Softball Field
Despite the threatening
clouds of early morning, the
day was fine and sunny for the
dedication of Sutton Softball
Field on Saturday, May 2. After Headmaster Hank Battle
welcomed the overflowing
crowd, Ben Sutton Sr. delivered a moving invocation.
Hank then gave a brief history
of the selflessness and generosity of the Sutton family.

The following five FCDS students were chosen to

Salem College in Winston-Salem), or at Governor’s
School East (at Meredith College) for six weeks this
summer. Congratulations to these students on this
wonderful achievement!

RUNNING CLUB SHOE COLLECTION
The FCDS Running Club is collecting shoes (used, in good condition) for children and adults in
the Dominican Republic. There is a great need for shoes as the majority of people walk around
barefoot on rough, unpaved surfaces. Your donations will be distributed directly to the people at a
mission in Cielo, Santo Domingo in June. Please consider sharing your “soles” with others who are
less fortunate. Sneakers, shoes, and sandals of all sizes are welcome. Collection boxes are located in
US outside the office and the freshman hall. Questions, please contact Hollis Lineberger at hollislineberger@fcds.org.
