IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama The IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama Series Overview IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama Series Overview The GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama is part of the IMSA family of premier motorsports events. Entering its seventh season, the series provides racers the opportunity to compete in an ultra competitive environment at renowned circuits across North America in the world’s most successful single-make race car, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racer. With car counts regularly exceeding 30 entries, the Championship regularly supports the American Le Mans Series at some of the most prestigious venues in North America. IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama IMSA Structure Celebrating its 43nd season in motorsports, IMSA is the premier sanctioning body for road racing in North America. IMSA is one of the eight member clubs of the Automobile Competition Committee of the United States (ACCUS), which is the FIA sporting association for the United States. As such, IMSA is one of just a few organizations in the U.S. authorized to stage competitions based on the International Sporting Code. Each IMSA series provides a unique form of auto racing action through varying levels of driver and manufacturer competition. IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama The IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge Class Structure The Championship consists of 2 different classes: Platinum Cup Class: 2010-2012 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Gold Cup Class: 2005 ½ – 2009 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama Competition Profile The IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama offers a defined system for drivers to refine their skills allowing them to graduate to the American Le Mans Series GTC class, and ultimately, to the starting grid on the Circuit de la Sarthe at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. The drivers in the series present a unique mix of aspiring young guns and mature drivers who enjoy the competition that 30+ car fields bring. The mature drivers are typically high wealth individuals who comprise a desirable demographic to sponsors as well. The access to these drivers that sponsorship of the series brings is unique in all of motorsports.
