It does not provide information about regional, state, or national scholarships. All scholarship information, whether for local scholarships or otherwise, is available through your College & Career Center. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE APPLICATIONS Scholarship Applications may be obtained by logging on to your school’s website and downloading the application to your personal computer. You must fill out a separate general application for each scholarship. Only include required documentation asked for by each organization. Return all completed applications to your College & Career Center by: FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2015 @ 3:00 P.M. – NO EXCEPTIONS Your College & Career Center representative will be responsible for completing the information on Page 2 of the Application entitled “For Office Use Only.” Each General Application requires you to attach a Personal Statement. If the scholarship you are applying for asks for a “Special Essay,” then submit that essay in place of the Personal Statement. If a scholarship requires a “Special Application” then you must fill out and submit that application. Committees will not accept packets that are incomplete and not properly filled out and put together. All “Special Applications” are available in the College & Career Center or by going to your Naviance account. Click on the “college” tab, then on the “scholarship list” link; there you will find the special application required. Only attach “Letters of Recommendation” to those scholarships requesting them. Transcripts: If a transcript is required, your College & Career Center representative will provide that for you, free of charge. Please do not request a transcript from the front office. Read each scholarship very carefully. Only apply to those that you are qualified for! Your College & Career Center representative is responsible for submitting all the completed Application Packets to the various service clubs. The service clubs will then determine the scholarship winner(s). Scholarship winners will be announced at your school’s Senior AMA Awards Ceremony IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are a recipient of a scholarship you are expected to send a Thank-You Letter! In the past years, we have lost some scholarships because winners did not follow this practice. 5 DISTRICT – WIDE SCHOLARSHIPS ALPHA DELTA KAPPA SCHOLARSHIP - $1000 Offered by Roseville Beta Eta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, a Professional Sorority for Women Educators to graduating seniors planning to pursue careers as teachers. Award made on the basis of 3.0 or higher GPA, leadership qualities, participation in extracurricular activities, and strong evidence of interest in education as a career. Must apply with a Special Application. (An additional scholarship of $1,000 will be available to previous recipients when they enter their student teaching phase. Contact your College & Career Center for more information.) Special Application Required Available in the College & Career Center or by going to your Naviance account. ANTELOPE AMERICAN YOUTH SOCCER ORGANIZATION (AYSO) Number and amount to be determined by committee Antelope American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) is offering up to $1,000 in scholarships each to graduating seniors. To be eligible, applicants must have participated as a player in Antelope AYSO during their high school years. Applicants must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA with exemplary citizenship. Must apply with a SPECIAL APPLICATION which includes an essay. The application is available in your College & Career Center. A transcript must also be attached. Special Application Required This application is available in the College & Career Center or by going to your Naviance account. Click on the “college” tab, then on the “scholarship list” link. Students who have demonstrated civic involvement or participation with student government are encouraged to apply. 6 General Application Required Available by going to your school’s website and downloading the application. CALIFORNIA SCHOOL EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION CHAPTER 459 SCHOLARSHIP - $100-$500 Open to graduating seniors who have a parent/legal guardian who is an active member in good standing with CSEA, Chapter 459. Applicants must submit: (1) Special Essay specifically stating why scholarship is needed and (2) A transcript with general application. GPA must be 2.5 or better. This scholarship will be awarded only to those deemed qualified by the scholarship selection committee. CHESLER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - $2000 7 Open to all seniors in the Roseville Joint Union High School District planning to pursue a college education leading toward a career in mining, geology, or related field. Must have a 3.0+ GPA. Must have at least one letter of recommendation from the applicant’s high school teacher or counselor. PASCO GOMES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - $1000 For a deserving and serious high school student, for the first year of university study in the field of business or manufacturing management. PINKY JENSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - 2 @ $1000 8 Open to RJUHSD seniors who are dependent youth of a past or present member of the Roseville Fire Department. Two scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each shall be available annually for qualified applicants having a minimum 3.0 GPA. Scholarships shall be awarded by the Executive Board of Local 1592 following applicant review and recommendation by the Scholarship Committee. Awards shall be limited to one per person, and may be used for either college or vocational programs. Must apply with a Special Application. Box 638, Roseville, CA 95678 KIWANIS CLUB OF ROSEVILLE SCHOLARSHIP See amounts listed below Open to senior students who will be pursuing a college education. Primary criteria in selecting recipients are students who can demonstrate extensive involvement in volunteerism within their community and/or participate in community activities within their school. Students are selected by being able to demonstrate leadership, high moral character, good citizenship and financial need. General Application Required Available by going to your school’s website and downloading the application. GPA of 2.75 (B-) or higher AMOUNT: 1-$500 – Antelope 4-$1000 – Roseville Key Club 1-$500 – Oakmont 4-$1000 – Woodcreek Key Club 1-$500 – Independence/Adelante (Combined) Receiving Award: Must send proof of full-time enrollment (12 units) in a college or university to: Frank Chapman, Scholarship Chairperson, Kiwanis Club of Roseville, 208 Fairhall Court, Roseville, CA 95747. KIWANIS CLUB OF ROSEVILLE BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP – 2 @ $1,000 Open to graduating seniors who are Roseville residents attending Roseville, Woodcreek, Antelope or Oakmont High Schools. Students must be planning to major in business, engineering, environmental law, math or computer office information systems. Must apply with a Special Application. This scholarship also has specific instructions and requires a Special Essay attached to application. 9 Special Application Required Available in the College & Career Center or by going to your Naviance account. LILANI WEALTH MANAGEMENT (STEM) SCHOLARSHIP - $500 The Lilani Wealth Management (STEM) Scholarship is open to all graduating female seniors who will be pursuing a college degree in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and must include a 500 word Special Essay entitled: “My Vision for the Future of Our World.” Also one letter of recommendation from a teacher or school counselor must be attached to the application packet. (Financial need is not necessarily required.) General Application Required Available by going to your school’s website and downloading the application. ROSEVILLE CRIME STOPPERS - 2 @ $500 Open to Seniors pursuing a career in the field of Criminal Justice. Criteria for selection will be on financial need, leadership qualities, high school extracurricular activities and community service. Must have at least one letter of recommendation from the applicant’s high school counselor or teacher. General Application Required Available by going to your school’s website and downloading the application. One letter of recommendation from high school counselor or teacher required. 10 Receiving Award: Must submit proof of full-time enrollment (12 units) to: Mr. Nick Alexander, 1700 Eureka Rd., STE. #110, Roseville, CA 95661. Award must be collected within 2 years of high school graduation. ROSEVILLE EMBLEM CLUB, NO. 407 SCHOLARSHIP – 2 @ $1,000 Open to senior students who are continuing their education after graduating from high school and enrolling in college full-time (12 units) in the fall. Award will be based on a GPA of 2.8 or better; financial need; participation in interscholastic sports and/or an elective office in some class, student body, or school sponsored organization and participation in community service outside of school. Applicants must submit a one-page Special Essay explaining “What I Hope to Accomplish in College and Why.” General Application Required Available by going to your school’s website and downloading the application. GPA of 2.8 or higher One-page Special Essay explaining “What I Hope to Accomplish in College and Why.” Receiving Award: Upon receipt of proof of enrollment in college, a check shall be issued to the college for the winners to use toward tuition, books and lab fees. No checks will be issued directly to the student. Proof of enrollment in college must be sent within 12 months of award. ROSEVILLE GIRLS SOFTBALL: John A Gabriel Scholarship/Leadership Award See amounts listed below The Roseville Girls Softball League is offering scholarships to one graduating senior at each of the five high schools (Granite Bay, Roseville, Oakmont, Woodcreek and Antelope) plus at least one additional “At Large” scholarship. Applicants must have participated in the Roseville Girls Softball League for at least four seasons to be eligible. Work as an umpire also counts. Applicants must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA with exemplary citizenship grades. Applicants must also respond on a separate application to questions on citizenship, leadership, extracurricular activities, and goals for the future. Must apply with a Special Application. The application must be typed, not handwritten. Transcript also needs to be attached. Special Application Required Available in the College & Career Center by going to your Naviance account. ROSEVILLE GREEN THUMB GARDEN CLUB SCHOLARSHIP - $500 Awarded to a deserving high school senior to further his/her studies in botany, conservation, entomology, floriculture, forestry, horticulture, landscape architecture, plant biology and/or plant genetics, urban planning, or research in allied fields. Need is more important than a grade point average. Potential and individual promise is essential. A brief letter of recommendation from student’s instructor must accompany the application. ROSEVILLE HOST LIONS SCHOLARSHIP See amounts listed below Open to senior students of Roseville and Woodcreek High Schools who are planning to continue their education after graduation. Applicant must have a GPA of 3.0 (B) or better, demonstrate financial need, good citizenship, and have participated in an interscholastic sport and/or held an elective office in some class, student body, or school sponsored organization, and have been enrolled in the school district for at least three semesters. In addition to the above criteria, applicants who are blind or visually handicapped will merit special consideration. Student must have participated in a minimum of three years in Roseville Youth Soccer Club and have a 3.0 GPA or better. Applicants must submit a Special Essay explaining “How has participating in soccer impacted my life?” Essay must be no more than 2-pages, typed, Ariel or Times New Roman font style and 12 pt. font size. Additionally: If you would like to be considered for an extra $1,000 scholarship from the Roseville Youth Sports Coalition Scholarship see your Career Center for an additional Special Application! Candidates should be well-rounded, involved in many activities, sports, community service, student council, leadership programs, etc. and have a 3.0 GPA or better. Please include a short letter of recommendation from someone who can help illustrate, through specific example, why you deserve this scholarship. Kathleen Stiles, a teacher in the Mathematics Department at Woodcreek High School died of cancer in August of 1999.
