June 27, 2015 Garrison High School Gymnasium
June 27, 2015 Garrison High School Gymnasium Festival and Auction to benefit the summer camping program at Camp of the Cross Ministries! Camp of the Cross Ministries is our camp, our ministry . . . THANK YOU for joining us today! We are so pleased to welcome you to the Prairie Lake Festival for 2015! We are especially grateful for the dedication and hard work invested by so many whose quilts and other gifts make this day possible. Each item for purchase today has a story - shaped by hands and hearts devoted to Camp of the Cross and its ministry to children, youth and adults. Every dollar we raise today makes it possible to send children to camp who would otherwise be passed over. That’s the motive for our joy today! What is a quilt worth? What is each handcrafted or painted item worth? It is impossible to “count the cost” of labor and creativity. Even the most basic quilt requires materials costing at least $50. Please consider that your donation is not getting something but giving a gift to our ministry!!! Quilts and other items not receiving the minimum bid set by the Prairie Lake Festival Committee for the live auction will be moved to either the silent auction or returned to the ministry at Camp of the Cross. Thanks again for your generosity. Not only are you purchasing “heirloom quality” items, you are touching hundreds of lives who are strengthened by the ministry of Camp of the Cross. God’s Blessing! A Special Thanks to… † All those who have donated quilts, wood-crafts, jewelry, baskets, etc - AND to the church women and men that have been so generous with their time, talents and creativity!!! † † † † † † Those who have been so generous in making purchases at the Festival!! † PL Festival Committee & Staff - Helen Rostad, Gloria Larson, Marlyn Zimmerman, Margie Nelson, Mary Ann Narum, Lisa Haugen, Kim Biffert, Vickie Lindquist, Amber Nelson, DeAnne Finken, Michelle Hayes, Tynan Nelson, Cynthia Olson, Doug Coonc, Betty Frey, Norm Frey and Janis Sloka, III. † Summer Staff of Camp of the Cross Ministries for all of their help in making this Festival possible. † “The Occasional Gospel Quartet” (Bill Wagner, Curt Melland, Keith Johnson and Mr. Steve Brannan and the Garrison School District for the use of the facilities! They will match the funds you donate and you will also receive a tax receipt for your efforts. Thank you for your supports of Camp of the Cross Ministries. The Master Quilter Author Unknown I think God is a quilter Who takes His needle and thread, To piece our world from nothingness And give it form, instead. I think God is a quilter And everything I see, Are pieces from His careful hand From tree to bumblebee. I think we see God’s stitches His texture everywhere; The velvet moss, the grainy sand, The silky strand of hair. I think God is a quilter Stitching tight and tiny rows, Adding to my scraps and pieces, Seaming everything He knows. I think He cuts the patterns From what I throw away. He shows me how to use each scrap In His redeeming way. I think God quilts a pattern From everything I live; But He can only stitch the quilt From what I choose to give. I think God is a quilter Stitching strength where I am weak. Showing me that life He touches Embraces everything I seek. I think God is a quilter From the patience in each thread; Proving length of time no barrier; Treating time a gift, instead. So, in the life I’m living With pieces everywhere, I’ll give them to the Quilter To stitch with loving care. I’ll give them to the Quilter Unwanted though they be, And with His work of quilting He’ll make a quilt of me. BID $ As I faced my Maker…at the time of judgment I knelt…in front of my Lord…with others there… along side of me. In the distance hanging… on golden lines Quilts…some as beautiful as beautiful could ever be. My pile of squares now lay in front of me As an Angel… took each piece to sew. But mine were quite ragged and lacking color And filled… with giant holes. Each piece had written… labels on them Indicating parts of my life…that had been difficult. The challenges and temptations…I faced everyday in my life Each one now…the Angel took. I glanced around…and no one else had squares like mine Other than a tiny hole… here and there. Threadbare and filled with holes Was mine… as I gazed upon each square. Finally the time came when each life was displayed Held up to…Heaven’s holy light. The scrutiny of the truth… In each viewed…tapestry Those faded…ragged patches… of my life. My gaze dropped to the ground in shame Of all earthly fortunes… had. Yet love and good health… were some of mine remembered Which made me feel proud… and yet so sad? I had spent many a night… on my knees Asking God for guidance in my life. To muster up the strength I needed To be a better servant…a better mother…a more loving wife. While I stood and lifted…the combined squares of my life to the light The light filtered through each hole There viewed was the face of Jesus Christ. For all present to behold. Then our Lord stood before me With warmth and love in His eyes. “Every time you gave your life over to me… my child Each point of light…was when you stepped aside.” “Allowing my light to shine through Until there was more of me… than you.” May all God’s children’s quilts… be filled with holes Allowing the light of Jesus Christ… to shine on through.
