Merry Christmas!
2014 was the best year we have seen over the last few years for pretty much everything on
the island. Real estate transactions were way up, a new government shows lots of potential, more flights and more cruise
ships occurred. Big news for the island is that after extensive talks, Southwest Airlines will be flying direct to Roatan in the spring.
This is from an inside source and has yet to be announced by the airline but they provide excellent service at very competitive
prices so the extra flights and the lower fares will certainly be a boon to tourism and business here.
Another exciting event was the arrival in Roatan and Honduras of Compass TV Network. The videographer, Jason

We had a lot of fun and I really look forward to the first episode that will be coming up in the new year. He was truly amazed at

Honduras takes the Lead in Vegetables and Fruits Exports
The deputy director of Honduras’ National Agricultural Health Service (SENASA), Edgar Santamaría, confirmed
that the country’s export volumes of non-traditional fruits and vegetables have exceeded those of the Dominican

These will include upgrading Puerto Cortés, the construction of the Amapala port
and completing the 280 km ‘Dry Canal’ connecting Amapala island in the Pacific
with Puerto Castilla, a container port on the Caribbean. In addition, funds will also
be allocated for social programs and improving some state run companies. “These new funds will support the economy; we have been
offered a facility to
undertake a series of important projects for the country to help us in our goals of becoming competitive,
because now we are not competing with the region, but with the world,” said the Government in a statement.

The 5th Annual Rotary Club of Roatan Fundraiser
This gala event is one of the few opportunities we have on the island to dust off the suits
and ties and the gowns and get really dressed up. There is great food, entertainment,
live and silent auctions, and many friends to meet. Most importantly it is an opportunity to
give generously to an organization that provides huge support and benefits to the island
