Durgam Mohammed Ali told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / "Iraq has now exhausted all available resources and even possible borrowing, which narrows the agreed solutions for the next year after exhausting the possibility of domestic and external borrowing after the accumulation of international loans to Iraq without a real reform." Frank Wolf (R-VA) said that Congress is considering the creation of an autonomous region in Iraq to protect Christians and Yazidis from persecution by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), and criticized the State Department’s lack of involvement in the ongoing discussions. “There are discussions and there will be a resolution introduced in the House, I believe, to set up an intothe-plains, basically a protectorate, whereby Christians, Yazidis and other minorities [will be protected],” Wolf said at an event last week at the National Press Club in Washington. The government, which relies on oil for 90% of its revenue and 80% of foreign exchange earnings, faces plunging oil prices combined with rampant corruption and the exorbitant cost of battling the Islamic State (IS). Iraqi officials must come up with solutions that take all those circumstances into account. The country's economic problem is influenced particularly by two factors. The first is related to Iraq's socialist economic system and its absence of an economic infrastructure and free active market correlated with global markets. The Chief of the Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Mark Binskin, told a Senate hearing on Wednesday that military planners were deeply worried about the state of the dam and had put "contingency plans" in place if it collapses. Rogozin will hold a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, the paper added. During his visit, the Russian official will meet with the chairman of the commission, Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Jaafari, and President Fuad Masum, the paper reported. Ten months ago Nazo fled to Iraq to escape the fighting in Syria, but now she needs to return home to her war-ravaged country for medical reasons. "The strike on Tafas field hospital, some 12 kilometers (seven miles) from the Jordanian border, took place on the night of February 5. It caused partial damage to the hospital building, and put its heavily-used ambulance service out of action," MSF said in a statement.
