In Martin’s own words
personalities—it feeds my creative journey and assures that
everyone’s needs are met.
I began my work on a Qantas A380 flight from London to
Sydney where I met with the Captain and First Officer.
It’s important to see the people in action and get very direct
feedback.
I spent several hours in the simulators of at least 3 different
aircraft types with my instructors. The flight deck is a very
specific environment with limited space to move, comfort is
key but remaining smart is also important.
In Australia I met with around 50 pilots, male and female,
and we spoke about the specific needs of the uniform. This
part of the process is one of the most important. It’s where
I accumulate maximum information from a wide variety of

very important that they look respectful and smart—they
are proud to represent Qantas and want their uniform to be
recognisable.

The peak of the hat is navy to match the suit. The top
of the hat is white. The hat badge, embroidered in gold
bullion, has been simplified with the Qantas Roo logo.
