THEATRE CAMPS MUSIC CLASSES Acoustic Guitar Manila Theatre Camps In this introductory course, students (Ages 9 and up) will learn basic strumming patterns, simple chord progressions, tuning methods and note identification. Students supply their own guitar and book. Book may be purchased from instructor Charles Moody. June 6-10– Monday– Friday Elementary Grades 2nd-5th Basics of acting and character building. Lots of fun acting/character development games. Friday’s performance will be short sketches and monologues. 10:00-12:00– Middle School Cafeteria Class Piano for Kids July 18-21 Mon-Fri Middle School Camp– Grades 6-9 This camp will be focused on Musical Theatre. You will cover the basics of acting and creating a character . Friday’s performance will be short musical theatre scenes. This class for piano students offers group instruction with individual attention in an electronic piano lab. Course will include basic reading, rhythmic and theory skills, as well as basic chord patterns. Fun piano activities too!! 1:00-3:00 pm– Middle School Cafeteria The instructor for this class is Mr. Dennis Hay. Instructors are Heath and Candace Hawkins who both have extensive backgrounds in theatre. Candace has a degree in theatre and teaches music at Rivercrest. Kids 8 and older will learn basic acting and stage skills and will perform an original play. Danna will have great musical numbers and focus on letting every camper shine! Fee: $60 Monday-Friday– July 25-29 1-4 pm ANC Blytheville Campus Adams/Vines Recital Hall Performance on Friday night. SHOW CHOIR Join Mandy Miller singing and dancing to the music of “Motown” in a fun-filled week with all your friends. This camp will teach choreography, vocals, and performance skills to this great music. You’ll want to get out of your seat and dance! There will be a performance on Friday for family and friends. Participants will receive a CD to help them learn the music. Brea is the dance team choreographer at Blytheville High School and also has a background in ballet and jazz. Come join her! Want to go on your very own pirate adventure? Join Zach Dent as he takes you on a journey through the seven seas. You’ll learn about geography, cultures from different places, how a pirate ship works, what flags mean, and even go on your own treasure hunt! Mon– Thurs.– June 13-16 1-2:30 pm The Gallery ANC Art Camp/ Manila SUMO ROBOTICS Elementary Art teacher Brooke Aguilar will take your kids for an artistic journey through the animal kingdom. Come and join in the adventure!! (Grades 3rd-6th) Manila Middle School Library SUMO Challenge Robotics allows students the opportunity to showcase their STEM skills by competing against other teams in dynamic challenges. The hands-on challenges serve a dual purpose: They introduce STEM concepts and their many applications and reinforce STEM fundamentals learned in the classroom. Two self-controlled/ autonomous LEGO Mindstorms robots are placed in a ring and compete headto-head. Science Camp Come and learn the responsibilities of a babysitter in this hands-on 8 hour class. Learn about child development, basic care giving routines, behavior and guidance techniques and the safety of children. You will meet in the FACS room at Blytheville High School. You will read recipes, practice good kitchen safety, measure ingredients correctly, plan a menu, eat well and set a table. Bring your apron and get started cooking! (Gallery) FREE! 15th Annual Summer Enrichment Camp “Comics for Kids” Summer Enrichment Camp is a program designed for highly motivated students who are performing above grade level, eager to learn, able to work independently and are wellbehaved. Highly qualified teachers from Memphis representing CLUE (Creative Learning in a Unique Environment) will instruct the students. The one week session is designed to provide fun and challenging summer enrichment. Through this camp, students will use their creative writing and thinking skills, learn about character development and illustration. And they will use watercolors and ink to create their comics. She played volleyball for 6 years at Cooter High School and continues to play here at ANC. She loves the game and it excited about these camps! KIDS SELF DEFENSE Brazilian Jiu Jitsu This class will be packed with fun for the kids. They’ll learn the importance of self-discipline, self-control, and self -esteem all while learning the basic principles of the wonderful selfdefense art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Sensei Ray Trammell has a Black Belt in the study of Martial Arts, has trained military personnel, members of the SWAT Team in Detroit MI and is now a detective with the Osceola Police Dept. Kids from the age of 8-12 are in for a real treat this summer! Big Lake Wildlife Refuge Manager Steven Rimer is going to take them on a wonderful adventure and it’s right in our own backyard!
