In her blog she writes, “Over the course of three years I faced sickness, loss of relationships with my family, brokenness of a marriage, loss of two babies, disappointment, and relationships with people who were very unfaithful. Because of all these trials, I felt like I was nothing; like I had nothing to offer God or another person. I thought that I didn’t deserve God.” But God never stopped pursuing Jessica, and after several years of God bringing her to a place of healing and restoration, He called her to use her nursing degree as a medical missionary to the Dominican Republic. Jessica has faithfully served at Hato Mayor, Dominican Republic for the past one and a half years. She knows that God has called her to minister to the least of these, and this is an arena in which she has been sent. She recognizes God’s call on her life to “work all things out for good” according to Romans 8:28, and she knows that He is using all of her life experiences to advance His Kingdom. This week she has a message to share with her peers. She is honest and compassionate when sharing God’s truth, and can relate with many of the issues facing her peers today. You can find more of Jessica’s adventures with medical missions at http://missionaryadventure13.weebly.com 10 Camp Meeting Policies During Camp Meeting, we ask that you help us by cooperating with the following: 1) All campers expecting phone calls, outside contact, or information forwarded, should register at the Whitehall Summer Office. The seminar will highlight topics such as: • Basic microphone techniques • Basic speaker functions • Planning your visual media • Implement an effective service 28 Excavating God’s Vision Within Every Leader! Leader: Todd Braschler 9:00 – 10:15 Hillside Lodge Monday - Friday In this conference, participants are guided through an “excavation experience” to discern what God has already placed within them. Understanding God’s vision is an experience of “excavation” rather than “exploration.” To excavate vision means to: • Realize that God has already placed this vision within each leader • Facilitate leaders in discerning and articulating that vision in pictures, not just teach more on the topic • Bring this incredible “desired future” into the light of our reality today • Aspire the hearts of others to see it and desire to follow Come experience God's vision for your life! Amillennialism Leader: Nick Wilson 9:00 – 10:15 Chapel Wednesday – Thursday – Friday The doctrine of the end times seems to be increasingly prominent in the church today. No matter where we go we hear about the events that are supposed to take place. We can't turn on the television or radio without finding some kind of prediction as to what will lead up to the return of Christ. In a time of so much speculation and diverse teaching, how are we supposed to know what to believe? Join us to discuss what the Bible actually says - and what it does not say - about the end of time and the return of Christ. We will spend three days looking at some of the most important Bible passages on this subject. Bring your questions and your Bible as we consider what God has revealed about the Second Coming. 29 Being the Church Leader: Dave Bish 9:00 – 10:15 Chapel Monday & Tuesday Monday – Being the Church - Most of us are very familiar with going to church. We actually love going to church and would like very much for people who don’t go to church to start going to church. But what if fulfilling the Great Commission and the Great Commandment had more to do with BEING the church than with GOING? In this conference, Pastor Dave Bish leads us through his personal journey with this idea and how he has implemented this understanding at Tri-County Church of God in DuBois, Pennsylvania. Don’t worry, Dave still goes to church too! Tuesday – DiscipleShift - For many years the emphasis in church growth strategies has been getting more people to come to church—as if filling a building with people was the goal of the Great Commission and the Great Commandment. And while it’s a wonderful thing when people come to our church services—what do we do with them once they come? In this conference, Pastor Dave Bish of the Tri- County Church of God in DuBois, Pennsylvania, will share his conviction that what Jesus really told us to do was make disciples—and not just get people to go to church. 30 10:30 am – 11:45 am Nursery available birth to age 4 from 10:30 – 11:45 am Evangelist Conference: To Be Wholly Holy Leader: Gerald Rudd 10:30 – 11:45 Auditorium Monday – Friday “To Be Wholly – Holy . . .” . . . In our Relationship with God “Jesus Reveals His Purpose” Luke 5:27-32 - Monday . . . In Our Personal Lives “Who Shapes Your Character?” Luke 8:26-39 - Tuesday . . . Within Our Congregations “Dealing With Change” Luke 5:33-39 - Wednesday . . .In Relationships With The Community “Jesus In The City Of Nain” Lk7:11-17 Thursday . . In Relationship To Our World “A Mission Given” Luke 9:1-9 - Friday 31 Family Conferences: Nursery available birth to age 4 10:30 am – 11:45 Chapel Monday: Marriage Tuesday: Discipline with kids Wednesday: Teenagers Thursday: Sandwich generation Friday: Finances Monday: Sizzle on the Front Burner Leaders: Greg & Shirley Smith Shirley and Greg share some pointers for a loving and lasting marriage gleaned over thirty-seven years of marital bliss (well, mostly bliss…☺). Topic includes: keep on talking, eliminating the “D” word, loving your spouse more than your kids, when the nest empties, and the door marked “private.” Tuesday: Disciplining Children the Biblical Way Leaders: Bonnie Edge and Meghan McMichael We will be looking into what the Bible says about raising Godly children. We will also be giving you some “tools” to use to help you in parenting. We hope to incorporate humor (a necessary parenting component) and some fun activities in this short session. Wednesday: The Truth about Teenagers Leader: Christy Pittman Just as adults, children need to connect, to attach, to be held in high esteem. They need to be affirmed, valued, honored, respected and loved; yet they do all of those things differently than we do. Sit in while we discuss the world our children live in, how we can relate to them and it, and how we can “train them up” giving them the wisdom to manage the knowledge they have. 32 Thursday: The Sandwich Generation Leader: Amy Worline Are you at that “in-between” stage of life? Are your children grown? Do you have grandchildren? Are your parents aging? Does it seem as if your children need you less and your parents need you more? Role reversal becomes a reality. In this session we will discuss the sandwich generation’s life and how to maintain a healthy level of faith and obedience to God in the midst. Friday: Financial Tools Leaders: Jennifer Fuoco and Barb Laurin We know what to do with the first 10% of our income, but how do we manage the other 90%? We will discuss budgets, debt reduction and savings, and introduce tools to help children and adults manage the 90% in Biblical and practical ways. 33 1:00 pm – 2:15 pm CWC Conference Speaker: Nick Wilson 1:00 – 2:15 Chapel Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 1:30 pm – 2:45 pm Church of God Credentials Hillside Lodge Monday, Wednesday and Friday Monday: Called to Ministry? Leaders: Jamey Huselton & Brandon Lenhart Are you feeling called to ministry? Our discussions will reference Darlene Zschech’s book, Extravagant Worship. This conference is not just for worship leaders but also for those who have a heart for worship. 35 How to Take Care of Your Pastor Leader: Church Health Team 2:45 – 4:00 Hillside Lodge Tuesday & Thursday Tuesday: Structuring Appropriate Pastoral Benefits and other Considerations Convener: Charles Johnson This conference will help boards and leaders develop structures to encourage and support pastoral health and welfare. Subjects include pay and benefits, vacation, job description, and cautions for creating a healthy work environment. Thursday: Biblical Call and Spiritual Giftedness in Developing a Job Description Convener: Chad Troup Taken mainly from Ephesians 4:11-12 and Acts 6 - You might be surprised how many churches expect their pastor to have all the Spiritual Gifts when realistically that isn't the case. Taking care of your pastor should really mean that every member of the body needs to minister according to their giftedness to free up your pastor to use his/her gifts to lead your congregation 36 FREE COUNSELING This year WPA Ministries will have licensed counselors available for counseling sessions Monday through Friday. The sessions are offered between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm and are free of charge. If you would be interested in making an appointment, you can sign up anytime at the State Office.
