E-mail and File Server Editions
AVG Anti-Virus E-mail and File Server Editions Anti-Virus Protection for E-mail and File Servers With computer viruses, trojan horses, worms, and other forms of random, malicious programs becoming more prevalent, the risk to your computer(s) is amplified. Estimates of the damage caused each year by malicious programs run as high as $55 billion. To protect themselves, tens of millions of users rely on Grisoft and its award-winning line of AVG Anti-Virus software products — and you can, too. A SOLUTION THAT’S JUST RIGHT FOR YOUR NEEDS The AVG Email Server Edition provides antivirus protection for e-mail on Microsoft Exchange servers, Lotus Domino servers, Kerio Mail Server and LanSuite 602. By running AVG directly on the mail server, protection can be centrally executed and managed. AVG E-MAIL AND FILE SERVER EDITION FEATURES • 2-year licensing • 24/7 technical support via e-mail • Protection of messages on e-mail server • Protection of file servers • Direct support for terminal services • Optional connection to AVG remote control administration • Resident scanning of files and programs at the server level • Antivirus scanning either on demand or according to a schedule defined by you • Certification of e-mail as virus-free2 • Separate settings for incoming and outgoing mail • Easy configuration (using dedicated application) • Detection of Potentially Unwanted Programs • Support for screen reader programs for the visually impaired AVG Email Server monitors user mailboxes, public groups, and stored databases1. If a mailbox receives an e-mail with an infected attachment, the attachment is removed into the Virus Vault, where the file can be healed or deleted. If no virus is detected in the e-mail, it can be certified virus-free; otherwise, the name of the detected virus is cited in the body of the e-mail and the virus is moved to the AVG Virus Vault. AVG for MS Exchange 5.x SOME BENEFITS OF SERVER PROTECTION AVG for MS Exchange 2003 The AVG Email Server Edition also includes licensing for the AVG File Server Edition, which offers protection for your network’s central file storage server — scanning all files as they are stored on the server disk, to detect viruses or possible malicious software. With antivirus protection centralized on the e-mail server, client/end users are protected and the risk of spreading a virus is minimized. Server administration and antivirus control can be put in the hands of an administrator whose knowledge and experience exceeds that of most client/workstation users. Resident protection of other network file servers prevents computers from spreading viruses from one workstation to other clients in a network. Any attempt to open, save, or copy 1 – On MS Exchange Server 2000/2003 only, 2 – Except on MS Exchange Server 2000/2003 pef_bro_us_1a.indd 1 7.11.2005 11:44:02 an infected file is stopped before the virus is saved to a server and activated. AVG Kerio MailServer anti-virus protection settings AVG Resident Shield does not allow to start/open infected files and offers actions available to remove the virus E-mail attachments are the most common source of virus infection but not the only one. Malicious websites, operating system flaws and contaminated disk media can still pose a risk. Therefore, AVG protection for individual workstations is recommended in addition to e-mail server protection. For networks that run a mail server we recommend the combination of AVG Network Edition and AVG Email Server Edition for a complete antivirus solution. LICENSING YOUR SERVERS AVG Email Server Edition is licensed according to the total number of mailboxes or e-mail accounts on the servers. The AVG File Server Edition is licensed according to the total number of workstations connected to the file server(s) in the network. Configurations of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 75, and 100 licenses are available, as are larger configurations upon request. The standard license period is 2 years (vs. 1-year license of other antivirus companies), giving you more time to work and less need to worry.
