Welcome back TPP students! First of all, we moved to a new office! We are now located in the Transfer Center which is in the Campus Center lower level. We made the move before the semester to provide you with the best service possible to help you transfer and get going on your career path. As always, the Teacher Prep Program gets serious about transfer in the fall. And as we have in the past, we are collaborating with the Transfer Center to bring you activities and events to help you get to the next step. Check out the College/Transfer Fair on Oct. 12 and meet with university reps. We also scheduled several workshops to assist you with university applications as well as teaching related activities throughout the semester. What else is new? Check out our new office with more career resources with extended office hours during the week; use our student work stations to complete your transfer application; talk with our Essay Doctor to ace the personal statement; get to know your options by going on field trips to Loyola and other 4year universities, and celebrate the semester with staff and mentors in December. We are ready to help you! Read to ME L.A. is a program founded in 2007 by librarians across the Los Angeles area. This free program teaches parents and caregivers how to read to their preschool children. This program is a great opportunity for all TPP students who wish to work with small children and gain experience in their field. Read to Me L.A. teaches children about books, simple phonics and new words. Attendees will receive free books, booklists, and tips on how one can continue to instill an interest in reading to their children Public Library site for and students. Visit the LA Cooperative Title V/Teacher Prep Program is a grant program funded by the U.S. Dept. of Education Transfer Days at Loyola Marymount University The purpose of the Teacher Preparation Pipeline Program at LMU is to provide individual and specialized assistance to transfer students who want to pursue a career in education. Part academic counseling, peertutoring, and career development focused, the TPP program is committed to guiding future teachers like you through the fulfilling process of transferring, earning a bachelors degree and teaching credentials – but from start to finish. Among its many services, the TPP program at LMU offers individual and group campus tours. This fall we are providing Transfer Days that are designed especially for first year community college students interested in learning about all that LMU has to offer. In order to more fully support you, we will provide transportation, lunch and information about the transfer process to LMU. This event is an opportunity to introduce students to the unique benefits and educational opportunities available at LMU. Our goal is to show you that LMU is a wonderfully diverse and dynamic four-year University that will provide you with great experiences and the life tools you seek from college.
