Mark Bove, CPCU, ARe
Senior Research Meteorologist

Mr. Mark Bove is a Senior Research Meteorologist in the Risk
Accumulation Department of Munich Reinsurance America. His
responsibilities include evaluating commercially available catastrophe
risk models and providing technical expertise on underwriting and risk
accumulation issues.
Mr. Bove has been active in meteorological consulting and
research for over 15 years. Before joining Munich Reinsurance America
in July 2000, Mark was a graduate research assistant at Florida State
University in Tallahassee, Florida. At Florida State, Mark conducted
research on short-term climate variations and probabilistic modeling of extreme weather
events. Research highlights include studies of El Niño’s influence on hurricane landfall
frequencies and tornadic activity patterns in the United States. Other research and consulting
topics included seasonal temperature and precipitation anomalies in the United States and
Latin America. Mark’s research made national headlines on several occasions and he was the
1998 recipient of the Father James B. Macelwane award for outstanding undergraduate
research by the American Meteorological Society.
Mark holds Masters and Bachelors degrees in Meteorology from Florida State
University and has earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate
in Reinsurance professional designations.

Come on down to Penn’s Landing with your fellow Sigma Chapter members and officers for a
magical night of ice skating at the Blue Cross RiverRink. It will be Student Night at the rink so
admission is free when you show your Temple University ID, while the cost to rent skates from
the rink will be $10. You can join some of your fellow officers for the commute down to Penn’s
Landing via the subway. We will be meeting at the Cecil B. Moore subway stop at 5:45pm
Thursday evening in order to head down together. Join us as we look to enjoy some wintery
