The competition, this dance festival’s key program, places great value on the individuality of choreography by artists who, sharing their times, direct a fresh new gaze on the body and on creative expression. Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse No.1, the main setting for this dance festival, was built in 1913 as a central point in the world distribution of goods and has played a major role in the development of Japan and other countries. Today this historic structure is the stage on which young talents, believing in their own expressive potential and the role of the artist in an increasingly diverse society, shoulder the role of presenting new cultural developments to the world. We look forward to their exploring new frontiers in the future of creativity.
