“A Legacy of Love” – September 14-15 at First Baptist Church,
210 North A Street in Farmington.
There is just something special about the relationship between
grandparents & grandchildren that God can use to create a
legacy of love. On September 14-15 [Saturday/Sunday] we will
have the opportunity to celebrate that special relationship in a
variety of ways.
Today’s children have very specific needs and who better to help
meet those needs than grandparents with their wide range of
experiences and wisdom. However, today’s culture presents
many challenges to parenting, so we, as parents and
grandparents, need all the help we can get! This weekend is
designed to offer that help specifically to grandparents and also
to provide some memorable fun times for all generations.
together, play together, eat together and build memories.
On Sunday there will be a reception at 9:00-9:15 am following the
early 8:00 am worship service. Both morning services will place
the “spotlight” on grandparenting and the relationships God
intends for families.
Special guest for the weekend will be Dr.
Jerry Cain [formerly serving Wm Jewell
College in Liberty, MO and Judson College
in Chicago, Ill.] He will share with those
who attend on Saturday as well as preach
in the two morning worship services the
next day. You will enjoy his blend of humor
and wisdom as he lends a unique perspective on just what it
means to develop “A Legacy of Love” in your family.

Season of Hope 2013
Sponsor Response Form
Seasons Greetings!
Since 1999 Caring Communities has coordinated a community-wide effort to provide holiday gifts for the children of families who live in poverty. You can share in
helping to meet the needs of children in St. Francois County by participating in Season of Hope. Here’s how you can help:

Your family, organization, group, business, or church can sponsor a family from your own community. Determine the number of children you are able
to help and return the commitment form below. On or before November 8th we will begin sending information to sponsors about the family with whom they
have been matched; specifically the children’s ages and their “wish list.” We simply ask that you do what you can to fulfill the children’s wishes.

You may purchase and donate new toys. Please call 431-3173 for a list of the most requested toys and information on drop-off
points.

You may send a cash donation to be used to sponsor a child/family. Involve everyone in your organization or business by
creating an opportunity for them to contribute.

You may purchase a Gift Card for teen clothing or cell phone cards for teens.
We would like to pair every family with a sponsor to better meet the requests of families and expedite the entire process. We
appreciate your assistance in helping all families in St. Francois County experience a joyous holiday season. Warmest
wishes for happy
holidays.

Why Get Involved: Families who live in poverty daily confront the anxiety and stress of their socio-economic status. That
stress is intensified during the holiday season, a time when parents desperately want to provide for their children. Children
who do not have their basic needs met with adequate clothing, school supplies, and good nutrition statistically are not as
successful in school as those children of families with adequate income.
In contrast, the holiday season fosters a sense of brotherhood and many citizens feel the desire to make a contribution to their community. The
Partnership seeks to channel this desire into help that is meaningful for children and families. We have the opportunity to provide some relief from
the constant worry and to raise the self-esteem of a child through the simple delight of receiving a gift.
The statistics may seem overwhelming,
but we CAN make a difference—one family at a time.
Your Success Stories: You have provided hundreds of children with brand new winter coats. You provided beds for children who slept on a pad on
the floor and warm blankets for many. You delivered firewood to a family with no heat. New mothers have received baby beds and care items.
Numerous children received warm clothing and new shoes, as well as toys with which to play.
You ARE making a difference, one child at a time!
