Training Trifecta at DCTR - Douglas County Trail Riders
FEBRUARY 2016
Training Trifecta at DCTR
Spring is just around the corner and all horse people
are gearing up to sharpen our skills for show season
or just to improve riding skills in general. DCTR is
offering the Trifecta of horsemanship. Three area
trainers are scheduled to conduct one-day clinics
sponsored by DCTR. Mark your calendars for these
three separate events.
Ty Haas Horsemanship and Groundwork clinic is
scheduled for March 26, 2016, and will be held at
Dancing Star Ranch indoor arena. Ty has worked
with renowned horseman Harry Whitney, and
approaches training from the horse’s perspective.
He especially enjoys problem solving for horses and
their riders. See the attached flyer for clinic details.
Ty will also speak at the March club meeting. Come
out and enjoy great food, great friends and great
information.
April 16 brings Matt Lange to the DCTR arena for
a Horsemanship and Groundwork clinic. Matt has
extensive English and Western riding experience,

the year’s upcoming events.
Ty Haas will be present and answer any questions
about his upcoming Horsemanship clinic on March
26, 2016.
Bring your smile, appetite and questions for an
enjoyable evening with like-minded horse people.
Pantry Shower for DCTR
The beginning of the horse season is just around the
corner and DCTR needs your help. In order to
provide the great food we serve we need to stock up
on a few items. Next time you are out and about
shopping, could you maybe pick an item to add to
our supply? Here is a list:
 Brand name pop in cans, Regular and Diet of
Coke, Pepsi, Mt. Dew, Dr. Pepper, Sprite and
Root Beer
 Sturdy paper plates
 Dessert plates
 Sturdy soup bowls
 Solo cups
 Styrofoam coffee cups
 Plastic ware, forks and knives
 Toilet paper, paper towels and napkins
 Coffee, creamer and sugar
 Condiments, ketchup, mustard and relish
We Want YOU to Renew!
Did you know that the more paid memberships we
have the less we have to rely on other fundraising to
operate DCTR? Collecting renewals early in the
year lets us know how much money we will have to
spend on maintenance and improvements or how
much other fundraising we will need to do.
What do you get for your membership dues? FREE
despooking clinics, FREE access to open arena and
cowboy obstacle days, FREE trail rides,
DISCOUNTS for clinic registrations, DISCOUNTS
for horse shows, PRICELESS friendships with
fellow horse enthusiasts.
Dues for 2016 remain unchanged, with single
membership just $30 and Family membership for
$45. A membership form is included with this
newsletter – just fill it out and bring to the next
meeting or mail to Liz Rombach along with a check
for speedy renewal!
Trail Ride Weekend at the
Ponderosa
There will be several trail rides scheduled
throughout the riding season this year. In July
DCTR will be heading to Pineville, Missouri, for a
weekend of trail riding at the Ponderosa
Campground. You can bring your trailer, rent a
cabin or tent camp. Electric and water hookup is
available. Three cabins have been reserved for
DCTR. Mark your calendar for July 15-17, 2016.
Visit www.ponderosatrails.net or contact Lyric
Bartz for more information.
New Webmaster!
Thank you Curtis Baker for agreeing to be our new
Webmaster. We are grateful for his time and talent
to keep DCTR visible and up to date. Welcome to
the club.
