Winners of MFR local
business of the year 2015
Highland BlindCraft had a great day on Friday 25th September, not only were we finalists
in the Chamber of Commerce outstanding performing small business and finalist in Best
Social Enterprise but we went on to WIN the MFR local business of the year. Everyone in
the factory was delighted with the award, and we had a small party to celebrate our win.
We’ve turned Highland BlindCraft around to be a quality business with a social purpose –
providing a supportive work environment for people with disabilities, while ensuring that
we are commercially focused and sustainable. Thank you for all the nominations that we
received from our customers – it was very much appreciated.

The factory had a team-bonding day with a cruise down the
Caledonian Canal, everyone had a great time and we hope
to do something similar next spring
July Charity Walk
In July 12 walkers set off from the Silver
Bridge by Garve to walk the 15 miles to
Dingwall to raise money for Highland
BlindCraft. It was a wet day but that
didn’t deter anyone. All of us finished,
although we were glad to see Dingwall
and get a drink! We raised over £1,000
for the charity and we had a great day.

Kyle gets
us social…
Outside funding has helped us move the
business into the social media world. Kyle
joined us for 9 weeks and managed our
Facebook page (now with over 1,000 likes)
got us onto Twitter, Linked in and on to
Google+. Kyle has offered to continue to help
us by volunteering for a few hours a week to
keep us on the right track! Thanks Kyle.
With our best sales for many years we
are still taking orders and delivering normally
within a week. I hate to mention the ‘C’ word
but if you order soon, there will still be plenty
of time to get your bed delivered before the
visitors descend on you for Christmas. There
are always lots of great deals on – so come
and see us in the showroom soon.
