Challenge: In managing the production of Vesi’s collegiate fashion and accessories, email communication with overseas factory partners became cumbersome
for Vesi, and they lacked the transparency needed to receive timely and accurate data. Vesi needed a PLM system that could help the company streamline
its product development, improve efficiency and speed to market, and enhance
collaboration with its factories.

Background
Vesi was founded in 1992 with the mission to design, source and market a full line of Sportswear that
can be worn at the game, on the course, or in the office. During the last decade, Vesi has taken collegiate apparel from game day fan wear to a lifestyle collection of fashion apparel for the most discriminating consumer. The company has 5 brands that have been developed to address the specific needs
of each target consumer—Vesi Sportswear, Lady Vesi, Crable Sportswear, Crable for Her, and Crable
Juniors. Most recently, Vesi has formed a strategic alliance with Brooks Brothers to market a collection
of college branded Brooks Brothers apparel.
The Challenge
When the company initially launched in 1992, Vesi commissioned agents to
be its liaisons with international factories and sourcing, ensuring that accurately ordered product was shipping in a timely manner. After re-evaluating
the additional cost, Vesi brought the process in-house, which it controlled
with an Excel spreadsheet. “We developed a time and action calendar starting from product development and it tracked product creation from its inception through completion from our internal perspective as well as progress within our overseas factory partners,” Davidson explained. “Over time,
email communications became cumbersome; we were lacking timely, accurate data and knew it was time to consider PLM.”
The Solution
An NGC ERP customer since the late 1990s, Vesi chose NGC’s Extended PLM
software. The company was won over by NGC Extended PLM’s ability to
streamline communications with overseas partners, as well as workflow of
transactions between internal and external users. Three internal users are
accessing the solution, and between 12 and 15 factory partners are connected. Vesi will integrate PLM and ERP upon implementation, enabling all
data regarding color, size, style and availability from the PLM system to be
exported to the ERP system without having to re-enter the information.
