Our homestays are designed to help you ease the transition to
American culture, while accelerating your English skills and preparing
you for an American college (if that’s your goal). You’ll also have
someone you can turn to whenever you have questions or concerns.
More specifically, you’ll experience:
A SMOOTH ENTRY: When you land in the United States, we’ll
pick you up at the airport and take you to your new home. Once
you’re settled, your homestay host will personally guide you
through your first days as you prepare for your new school.
A COMFORTABLE HOME: You’ll have your own bedroom, a
private or shared bathroom, and three meals a day — all you
have to worry about is your schoolwork.
SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION: Whether you go by bus or car, you’ll
never have a problem traveling to and from school each day —
we make sure of that.
LOCAL CULTURE: Your host family members and their friends
can help you discover the America they know — the local music
scene, the best shopping areas, museums and movies, and
whatever else may interest you.
AN INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY: You’ll be able to participate
in special events with other international homestay high school
students — a great way to make new friends, compare notes,
and exchange tips about your new life.
CUSTOMIZED OPTIONS: If our homestay program is missing
something you need — a special type of food, for example, or
extra transportation to sports or music lessons — just ask. We
can customize your homestay package to accommodate your
needs.
MONTHLY CHECK IN: AHN trained representatives will perform
a monthly check-in with each student and will provide a written
report through our Homestay Management System for the
agents and/or the student’s family to review.

To make every aspect of your homestay an unqualified success, we
make it our top priority to ensure your safety and give you the support you deserve.
That’s why we adhere to the strict standards established by the
Australia Homestay Network, which has placed more international
students than any other homestay organization in the world. You
(and your parents or guardian) can rest easy that all of our homestay
hosts have gone through a comprehensive host certification process,
including:
• An in-home interview.
• Successful completion of our online Host Training and Assessment
program.
• A national criminal background check on family members over 18
years old.
• Regular home inspections to ensure that our high standards are
being maintained.
• Routine communication with a homestay manager.
As backup, each student is given a 24/7 emergency phone number.
You’ll also be assigned a local homestay manager, who will check in
monthly to make sure you’re doing well at home and in school. All
local managers complete a rigorous training course, follow-up testing, and a year of dedicated coaching to prepare them for homestay
assignments.
