G
eneral Dynamics has a 20+ year legacy of providing high-reliability
space-hardened global positioning system (GPS) sensors for
commercial and military low-earth orbit (LEO) users. Our Viceroy and
Monarch receiver families have flown innumerable LEO missions and some
geo-synchronous Earth orbit (GEO) missions and continue to provide reliable
data to the commercial, military, and NASA user communities.
The most recent product-refresh cycle for the Viceroy GPS receiver
platform, Viceroy-4, is a design that can be tailored to particular markets and
applications, and was accomplished in a manner that preserves the millions
of orbits of the Viceroy flight-proven legacy and heritage. Customization to a
particular application and mission duration occurs at both the software and
hardware level. The reference design is flexible; the parts used have multiple
levels of screening options that can be used to optimally meet the needs of
short and long-term missions.
The platform design methodology provides a number of modern civil GPS
receiver products tailored to particular applications. The GEO version
demonstrates the ability to provide 100% position, velocity, and time data
enabled by its ability to acquire and track a significant number of sidelobe
signals. The Viceroy-4 can be configured for GEO and LEO missions and for
any mission life.

The Explorer GPS receiver is a Viceroy-4 platform variant that is configured
specifically to accept commercial through level-B parts. Both the Viceroy
and Explorer receivers can be produced as dual frequency receivers for
increased position accuracy.
The Monarch GPS receiver is a dual frequency platform that provides very
precise position and timing information along with SAASM (anti-spoof)
security features for DoD-approved missions. Unique to the Monarch is the
Relative Navigation mode where two or more Monarchs can be configured
to fly in formation orbits.

Monarch-M is 5th generation of Monarch and uses the M-code signal that
will be available from future GPS-III satellites to improve the anti-jamming
and security of military GPS signals.
