Community Benefit Report - Logan Memorial Hospital
2014 REPORT TO T H E C O M M U N I T Y At Logan Memorial Hospital, our goal is to deliver Jim Bills, CEO Logan Memorial Hospital the best healthcare available to the residents of South Central Kentucky, as we seek to make our community healthier. With the help of dedicated physicians, employees, volunteers and board members, along with your support and encouragement, we continue our passionate pursuit of excellence. Delivering quality healthcare close to home is the single most important contribution we make. But there are many other ways we make a positive impact on the communities we serve. Here are a few of the ways we are making a difference. Nearly $1.5 million in capital improvements In 2014, we made a number of quality improvements for our facility investing $400,000 to install new telemetry equipment in ER, ICU, and our inpatient care areas. We also invested $430,000 to complete our chiller replacement project and $194,000 in new imaging equipment. In fact, we invested nearly $1.5 million in our facilities last year which included technology replacement, information technology additions/updates and important facility upkeep and maintenance. Contributing to our local tax base Last year, Logan Memorial Hospital paid $769,605 in taxes which helped support our city, county and state. This included sales taxes as well as property taxes. These dollars help maintain local schools, fund the development of roads, recruit business and industry, and provide other similar services vital to support and sustain a thriving economy. Helping those in need Logan Memorial Hospital is committed to ensuring the delivery of needed healthcare to all members of the community, regardless of ability to pay. Last year the cost to Logan Memorial Hospital was more than $400,000 to provide services for those without the ability to pay for their care. Adding new physicians During the past year, Logan Memorial Hospital added eight new physicians to our medical staff, including specialists in emergency medicine, nephrology, podiatry and radiology. Logan Memorial Hospital has also partnered with Team Health to provide quality physicians 24/7 in our Emergency Department. One of our community’s major employers With an annual payroll of $11,165,465 and an average of 231 employees, Logan Memorial Hospital is one of the largest employers in the region. This means that our staff and family members attend many of the same schools, shop at the same stores and volunteer their time and resources for the same organizations as you do. We thank you for choosing us for your healthcare needs. With your support, we can continue making our community healthier. 1625 Nashville Street • Russellville, Kentucky 42276 • (270) 726-4011 • LoganMemorial.com 2014 REPORT TO T H E C O M M U N I T Y COMMUNITY BENEFIT REPORT BOARD OF TRUSTEES 2015 OFFICERS Charity and other uncompensated care......................................................................................$412,772 Includes unpaid cost of Medicaid as well as charity care and other uncompensated care Edna Hughes, Chair Executive Vice President, Senior Lender, Lewisburg Banking Company Community benefit programs.................................................................................................................$62,065 Financial contributions............................................................................................ $ 7,700 Professional development.................................................................................... $ 48,707 Tuition reimbursement........................................................................................... $ 5,658 Jim Bills, Secretary CEO, Logan Memorial Hospital Taxes paid........................................................................................................................................................................$274,423 Property and other taxes..................................................................................... $ 254,209 State sales tax.............................................................................................................. $20,214 MEMBERS Kamal Singh, MD Logan Memorial Hospital Chief of Staff Ron Barbe GM Ventra Plastics James Dodson, MD Logan Physician Practice, LLC Ethan Holloway H&H Sheet Metal Sandra Kinser Russellville City Council Auburn Banking Company Charles Mathis, MD Family Health Center 2014 TOTAL.......................................................................................................................$ 749,260 SPONSORSHIPS AND DONATIONS During 2014, Logan Memorial Hospital contributed to various local charities and organizations including American Red Cross, American Cancer Society and Relay for Life, Toys for Tots, Logan County Chamber of Commerce, Logan Economic Alliance for Development, United Way of Southern Kentucky, Junior Achievement of Southern Kentucky, Diabetes Day Out-Barren River District Health Department, Local High School Athletics, Local Elementary Schools Programs, Farm Safety Day, Russellville Rotary Happy Feet Program, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Crime Stoppers.
