Barrio Logan survived the turbulent 1960s, the Cesar Chavez led unionization of farm workers, the I-5 expansion that divided the neighborhood, and the construction of the Coronado Bridge. Barrio Logan is now undergoing a renaissance as creative entrepreneurs are setting up shop in the neighborhood. 1 2 3 PEOPLE The culturally eclectic mix of people that live and work in Barrio Logan have led to a recent surge of activity. Architects, marketing agencies and law firms are right at home with a Mexican roast coffee house, a barrio winery, new restaurants, and a hip tattoo/barber shop. The historically significant Chicano Park is adorned with the murals of local artists that represent the heritage of people present and past. Today, Barrio Logan is “the next Little Italy,” and one of the new hot spots in the city. 4 5 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. A metal sculpture in historic Chicano Park. Juan Diaz at his Barrio Logan Winery.
