Our windows full of
snowmen are some of
the only snow we’ve
seen so far this winter.
We know many aren’t
complaining about the
lack of snow, but it did
make it a challenge to
get in the holiday spirit!
At left:
On the other hand,
Samuel Adams didn’t
seem to have any
trouble - he donned his
Christmas sweater and
joined us in December.
Look for him and other
fun Brewfest items in

As we start a new year, there
are many changes happening
at the Chamber. As you all
know by now, Ron has moved on
to a new role with the Blaisdell
Foundation and we wish him all
the best in his new endeavors.
CASA of McKean County will begin
training for their Spring 2016 class on
March 10th. Applications are being
accepted on an on-going basis and are
available on their website, located at
www.mckeancountypa.org/casa.aspx,
along with more information.
Since the announcement in
late November, I’ve had many
people ask me about my
transition into the Executive
Director position. “Are you
excited?” “Are you looking
forward to it?” “Are you
nervous?” The answer to all
of those questions, without a
doubt, is “Yes!”
The Good News Department
Ryan Race has been named
manager of the Northwest
Savings Bank office located
on West Washington Street.
As manager, Race will be
responsible for customer
service, administration,
lending and business
development. He will work
with the commercial lending, business
services, investment management, and
insurance areas of the bank to provide
customers a full range of financial services.
Thanks to our
wonderful volunteers!
We couldn’t do this without you:
Top and middle rows: Congratulations to the winners of the 2015 Downtown Bradford window decorating contest, sponsored by the Downtown Bradford
Revitalization Corporation! Left to right: Timeless Treasures, owned by Sheryl Silvis, came in 3rd place; Graham’s Florist, owned by Candy Tingley, received
2nd place; and Moments to Remember, owned by Laurie Lindstrom, was the 1st prize winner. Downtown looks wonderful this holiday season thanks to all
who have decorated their businesses! Bottom row: While the weather didn’t quite fit the theme, Old-Fashioned Christmas was once again a success, with
woodcarving demonstrations (and Santa!), live music by some Wright’s Music Shed’s students, and horse-drawn wagon rides sponsored by Team VP ERA
Real Estate among the many activities offered. There was fun to be had for all ages, and shoppers enjoyed visiting the downtown retailers and restaurants.

American Red Cross brings home fire
campaign to Bradford: Every day, fire
departments respond to over 1,000 home
fires and those fires result in 39 injuries and
7 deaths on average. In an effort to reduce
home fire injuries and fatalities, the
American Red Cross has initiated a Home
Fire Campaign, where their volunteers and
community partners install free smoke
alarms and offer free fire safety education
to the residents. They are bringing this
valuable lifesaving campaign to the
Bradford area on Monday, January 18th.
In order to make the program successful, the
American Red Cross is looking for additional
help on that day. Whether you are a single
individual looking to give back to the
community or a large company, the Red
Cross can use your assistance. For additional
information on how to get involved, contact
Geoffrey Domowicz (geoffrey.domowicz@
redcross.org) at 814-240-7598.
Lisa’s Hairport has
welcomed Trevor Quick
to their staff. Trevor is a
lifelong resident of
Bradford who attended
Continental School of
Beauty in Olean to earn
his License in Cosmetology.
His specialties include:
texture cuts, razor cuts, clipper cuts, fades,
mustache and beard shaping, hot towel
neck shaves, creative color, corrective color,
waxing, and spa services. He is accepting
new clients. Trevor’s overall goal is to build
a relationship of trust and commitment with
his clients that will last for many years.
I am excited to continue working
with all of our members in this
new role. I’m looking forward
to continuing to build upon the
success our Chamber team has
created in recent years. And I
am, admittedly, a bit nervous,
but not in the way that some
people seem to expect.
Ron and I have worked closely
together for more than five
years. We’ve seen incredible
growth in the Chamber’s
membership numbers, an almost
complete revamping of most of
our events, and huge changes
in how the business community
connects through social media
and other avenues.
During that time, I have learned
so much from Ron’s leadership
and guidance, and I have come
to consider him a good friend.
While I know his are big shoes
to fill, I am honored that he...

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford has received an
honorable mention for its freshman orientation handbook
from the Council for the Advancement and Support of
Education in its District II Accolades Awards Program. PittBradford received the award in the Student Handbooks
category for its Beginnings Orientation handbook, which is

A Whole Latte Love Cafe is on the move - watch for them
to re-open soon at their new location, 16 Congress Street.
Youth group members from the First Presbyterian Church
recently used their prize money from the Cruisin’ Into
Christmas Parade to purchase gifts for children who are
currently living at the YWCA Bradford’s homeless shelter.
Kudos to these youngsters and their leaders at the church!
Congratulations to Steve Cavallaro for organizing this
year’s new, successful Community Christmas Caroling
event. We hope to see it repeated in future years!
Bradford Ecumenical Home, Inc.
announces the retirement of longtime employee, Linda Ingram.
Linda started at Hannum Memorial
Rest Home in 1982 as a certified
nursing assistant. In 1989, when
Bradford Ecumenical Home was
built, Linda transitioned to the
business office. She worked at
Bradford Ecumenical Home until
1996 when Chapel Ridge Personal Care Home opened
and transferred to Administrative Assistant in 1996 where
she has been ever since. Linda says the best part of her
job is, “talking to the residents about their life, past and
present, and just making their days pleasant. I like to
help make Chapel Ridge feel more like home.” Nancy
Renninger, Director of Nursing, worked with Linda during
her tenure at Hannum Home. Nancy shared, “Linda was
one of four full time day shift nurse’s aides when I started
there in 1987. Linda was a compassionate and caring
aide. Her laugh was and continues to be contagious! When
we opened Chapel Ridge she applied for the receptionist
position. I know they affectionately refer to her as the
“glue” that holds everything together.” Linda’s dedication
and loyalty to Bradford Ecumenical Home, Inc. is to be
commended. Her thirty three years of service is greatly
appreciated. Congratulations on your retirement, Linda!

What’s happening
at the Chamber
Kara’s message...continued from page 3
...trusts me to be able to pick up where he
has left off and continue the good work
that the Chamber has been doing
throughout our time together here. I am
also thankful that our Board of Directors
has demonstrated their confidence in me
by offering me this exciting opportunity.
Throughout my time at the Chamber, we
have been blessed with active leadership
and supportive input from our talented
Executive Board and Board of Directors,
and I expect that to continue into the future.
I look forward to working with this year’s
Executive Board members as we carefully
evaluate our services and events, and
continue to make positive changes for the
increased benefit of our members.
All that we have accomplished at the
Chamber has been through a team effort,
and we plan for that to continue into the
new year and beyond. While our entire
staff (even the Executive Director) is parttime, we all work to make the most of that
time to serve you, our members.
Tricia Wilt, our Membership Coordinator, is
available Tuesday through Friday to assist
all of our members and the public with their
needs. We will be welcoming a new Event
Coordinator on board in the near future
to continue to add new ideas and a fresh
perspective to our event planning and our
overall services. And I will be in the office
Monday through Thursday most weeks,
where I welcome you to visit us and share
your ideas, suggestions, and, yes, even your
complaints, so that we can all work together
to find successful solutions!
May 2016 be a Happy New Year for you
and yours!

Let’s talk about...
Getting Involved
The positive and negative aspects of our local
communities are frequent topics of conversation when
colleagues and friends get together. While there are no
easy answers to eliminating the negative forces that do
exist in every community, we all can do our part to get
involved and make an effort toward positive change.
Whether you choose to volunteer with an existing
organization, or introduce a new effort to fill a need
that you see, each positive step you make does make
a difference and helps to turn the tide in the right
direction.

Let’s talk about...
Getting Involved
The positive and negative aspects of our local
communities are frequent topics of conversation when
colleagues and friends get together. While there are no
easy answers to eliminating the negative forces that do
exist in every community, we all can do our part to get
involved and make an effort toward positive change.
Whether you choose to volunteer with an existing
organization, or introduce a new effort to fill a need
that you see, each positive step you make does make
a difference and helps to turn the tide in the right
direction.

Bradford Ecumenical Home, Inc.
announces the retirement of longtime employee, Linda Ingram.
Linda started at Hannum Memorial
Rest Home in 1982 as a certified
nursing assistant. In 1989, when
Bradford Ecumenical Home was
built, Linda transitioned to the
business office. She worked at
Bradford Ecumenical Home until
1996 when Chapel Ridge Personal Care Home opened
and transferred to Administrative Assistant in 1996 where
she has been ever since. Linda says the best part of her
job is, “talking to the residents about their life, past and
present, and just making their days pleasant. I like to
help make Chapel Ridge feel more like home.” Nancy
Renninger, Director of Nursing, worked with Linda during
her tenure at Hannum Home. Nancy shared, “Linda was
one of four full time day shift nurse’s aides when I started
there in 1987. Linda was a compassionate and caring
aide. Her laugh was and continues to be contagious! When
we opened Chapel Ridge she applied for the receptionist
position. I know they affectionately refer to her as the
“glue” that holds everything together.” Linda’s dedication
and loyalty to Bradford Ecumenical Home, Inc. is to be
commended. Her thirty three years of service is greatly
appreciated. Congratulations on your retirement, Linda!

What’s happening
at the Chamber
Kara’s message...continued from page 3
...trusts me to be able to pick up where he
has left off and continue the good work
that the Chamber has been doing
throughout our time together here. I am
also thankful that our Board of Directors
has demonstrated their confidence in me
by offering me this exciting opportunity.
Throughout my time at the Chamber, we
have been blessed with active leadership
and supportive input from our talented
Executive Board and Board of Directors,
and I expect that to continue into the future.
I look forward to working with this year’s
Executive Board members as we carefully
evaluate our services and events, and
continue to make positive changes for the
increased benefit of our members.
All that we have accomplished at the
Chamber has been through a team effort,
and we plan for that to continue into the
new year and beyond. While our entire
staff (even the Executive Director) is parttime, we all work to make the most of that
time to serve you, our members.
Tricia Wilt, our Membership Coordinator, is
available Tuesday through Friday to assist
all of our members and the public with their
needs. We will be welcoming a new Event
Coordinator on board in the near future
to continue to add new ideas and a fresh
perspective to our event planning and our
overall services. And I will be in the office
Monday through Thursday most weeks,
where I welcome you to visit us and share
your ideas, suggestions, and, yes, even your
complaints, so that we can all work together
to find successful solutions!
May 2016 be a Happy New Year for you
and yours!

As we start a new year, there
are many changes happening
at the Chamber. As you all
know by now, Ron has moved on
to a new role with the Blaisdell
Foundation and we wish him all
the best in his new endeavors.
CASA of McKean County will begin
training for their Spring 2016 class on
March 10th. Applications are being
accepted on an on-going basis and are
available on their website, located at
www.mckeancountypa.org/casa.aspx,
along with more information.
Since the announcement in
late November, I’ve had many
people ask me about my
transition into the Executive
Director position. “Are you
excited?” “Are you looking
forward to it?” “Are you
nervous?” The answer to all
of those questions, without a
doubt, is “Yes!”
The Good News Department
Ryan Race has been named
manager of the Northwest
Savings Bank office located
on West Washington Street.
As manager, Race will be
responsible for customer
service, administration,
lending and business
development. He will work
with the commercial lending, business
services, investment management, and
insurance areas of the bank to provide
customers a full range of financial services.
Thanks to our
wonderful volunteers!
We couldn’t do this without you:
Top and middle rows: Congratulations to the winners of the 2015 Downtown Bradford window decorating contest, sponsored by the Downtown Bradford
Revitalization Corporation! Left to right: Timeless Treasures, owned by Sheryl Silvis, came in 3rd place; Graham’s Florist, owned by Candy Tingley, received
2nd place; and Moments to Remember, owned by Laurie Lindstrom, was the 1st prize winner. Downtown looks wonderful this holiday season thanks to all
who have decorated their businesses! Bottom row: While the weather didn’t quite fit the theme, Old-Fashioned Christmas was once again a success, with
woodcarving demonstrations (and Santa!), live music by some Wright’s Music Shed’s students, and horse-drawn wagon rides sponsored by Team VP ERA
Real Estate among the many activities offered. There was fun to be had for all ages, and shoppers enjoyed visiting the downtown retailers and restaurants.

American Red Cross brings home fire
campaign to Bradford: Every day, fire
departments respond to over 1,000 home
fires and those fires result in 39 injuries and
7 deaths on average. In an effort to reduce
home fire injuries and fatalities, the
American Red Cross has initiated a Home
Fire Campaign, where their volunteers and
community partners install free smoke
alarms and offer free fire safety education
to the residents. They are bringing this
valuable lifesaving campaign to the
Bradford area on Monday, January 18th.
In order to make the program successful, the
American Red Cross is looking for additional
help on that day. Whether you are a single
individual looking to give back to the
community or a large company, the Red
Cross can use your assistance. For additional
information on how to get involved, contact
Geoffrey Domowicz (geoffrey.domowicz@

Lisa’s Hairport has
welcomed Trevor Quick
to their staff. Trevor is a
lifelong resident of
Bradford who attended
Continental School of
Beauty in Olean to earn
his License in Cosmetology.
His specialties include:
texture cuts, razor cuts, clipper cuts, fades,
mustache and beard shaping, hot towel
neck shaves, creative color, corrective color,
waxing, and spa services. He is accepting
new clients. Trevor’s overall goal is to build
a relationship of trust and commitment with
his clients that will last for many years.
I am excited to continue working
with all of our members in this
new role. I’m looking forward
to continuing to build upon the
success our Chamber team has
created in recent years. And I
am, admittedly, a bit nervous,
but not in the way that some
people seem to expect.
Ron and I have worked closely
together for more than five
years. We’ve seen incredible
growth in the Chamber’s
membership numbers, an almost
complete revamping of most of
our events, and huge changes
in how the business community
connects through social media
and other avenues.
During that time, I have learned
so much from Ron’s leadership
and guidance, and I have come
to consider him a good friend.
While I know his are big shoes
to fill, I am honored that he...
