Attracts birds. Full sun or shade Prefers moist conditions. Alexander Palm white These solitary palms have tall slender trunks that can reach up to 20 metres. The large leaves (fronds) stretch 4 metres outward from the crown, forming a circular arrangement. There are dark green above and silvery beneath. Hundreds of small creamy white flowers branched in clusters hang from the crown like a large chandelier. These are soon followed by red, egg shaped fruit which are enjoyed by a range of fruit eating birds including fig birds, bower birds, and native pigeons. The Alexander Palm occurs throughout coastal Queensland and is tolerant of floods and cyclones.
