Ya estamos en el tiempo del año cuando tenemos más matrimonios, y me hace pensar en la vocación matrimonial. No es
siempre fácil vivir el compromiso del día de la boda. El día de
la boda la pareja embarca en una jornada de toda la vida. Lo
que su matrimonio sea durante los años depende de las decisiones que la pareja hace durante todo la duración de su matrimonio. Ellos siguen creando la jornada matrimonial. La pareja
crece en su matrimonio como un sacramento al grado que ellos
lo experimentan como un signo visible del amor transformador
de Cristo para ellos y la presencia íntima y constante de Cristo
con ellos. El matrimonio debe ser un camino a la santidad: la
unión con Dios; hay que vivir el amor de una manera auténtica.
El amor es la base de un matrimonio. No solamente es la
emoción que atrae dos personas una a la otra al principio, sino
es el pegamento que las mantiene unidas durante el transcurso
de los años. Después de algunos años de matrimonio ellos empiezan a sentir una unión más firme, afecto establecido y una
lealtad a su pareja. Los hijos requieren que ellos trabajen juntos
y aun se sacrifiquen. Después de muchos años el matrimonio
pueda requerir cuidado de su pareja. El amor no disminuye,
pero la pareja aprende otra parte del amor. Ya conocen un amor
sólido que incluye recuerdos, experiencias compartidas, sueños
realizados o no, esfuerzos hechos. Aun la pareja pueda mirar
para atrás y ver las fallas y faltas, y cómo habían superado las
dificultades para poder profundizar más su amor.
No más es el amor tan egoísta; ahora van descubriendo más y
más del otro; el amor se pone como un cuidado para el otro.
Ahora se busca el bien del otro aun si eso signifique un sacrificio. Podemos ver todo esto como un medio a la santidad. El
amor a su pareja pide dejar a un lado sus propios deseos si sea
por el bien de su esposo(a) o hijos. El amor matrimonial requiere un compromiso; hay que aprender cómo amar a su esposo(a)
sin condiciones. Hay que comunicarse, respetar al otro, admirar
los valores y dones del otro. El amor puede llevar a la pareja
solucionar situaciones y discusiones difíciles. También el matrimonio requiere la generosidad: a Dios, los familiares, los amigos, los necesitados… El amor de la pareja debe ser vivido públicamente para que otros puedan reconocerlo como un medio
de unir no solamente la pareja pero la pareja a Dios y a los necesitados.
Con el paso de los años la pareja va a ser creativo en su vivencia de amor y si sean fieles a esta vocación matrimonial, van a
profundizar más su vida espiritual y su conocimiento y unión
con Dios. Este es un reto a todos

World Youth Day is being held in Krakow, Poland
and the Diocese of Rochester is planning a
stateside celebration.
I have placed all the
information I have received about the events,
below. I would really like to get a group of youth
(grades 6-12) together for the festivities on
Thursday, July 28 at St. Jude in Rochester. If
there are any youth who would be interested in
going, please contact me as soon as possible so I
can get some planning in the works!
