Please Pray For Vocations to Religious Life, Priesthood and Strong Catholic Marriage Pastor’s Notes . . . August 28, 2016 The rhythm of parish life has shifted again, as school is back in session, both public and at St. Andrew school. Even for those who have grown children the new school year changes things; no more summer visits from children and grandkids. Then again, some of you are relieved that the kids are back in school, if only for the peace and quiet! Life has its own rhythm as well, birth, growth, aging, death. This should lead us to ask: “Where is my life going?” “Am I just drifting along, not really living the Christian life to the full?” No matter what season of life we find ourselves in, we need to stop and see how we are: Living- Is my life all about material things or status? Am I only concerned about my own needs and not those of others? Learning- Am I content to sit back and let the weekly homily meet my needs and desires for a better understanding of my faith? Loving- Is my life centered on loving God above all else and my neighbor as myself, or am I loving only toward those I choose to love? The rhythm of life keeps right on going, leading us to the next thing in our lives. Let’s make every effort to live life fully, taking in all of God’s love and sharing that love with others, in fulfillment of the challenge Jesus puts before us. Live, Love, Learn, Fr.Tony CONFIRMATION - For Incoming Sophomores and Juniors and parents or guardians - There will be an Organizational Meeting on Sunday, August 28th, from 4 to 6 PM in the church hall. The sessions will begin in September, so please attend this very important meeting! DIOCESAN ACTIVITIES The Parents Club of Helias Catholic High School is hosting a formal “ReSale” sale as a fundraiser on Sunday, August 28. Come join us in the monthly diocesan wide Eucharistic Celebration in Honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at St Peter Parish Chapel in Jefferson City on Friday, September 2 at 6:45 pm. Labor Day Weekend! Calling all Catholic young adults! The annual Nature's Call campout is happening again over Labor Day weekend, September 3-5! What is Nature's Call you may ask? Only the largest Catholic Young Adult event in the Midwest! A campsite nestled in the Ozarks of Missouri. A wooded area on bluffs overlooking Lake Pomme De Terre. Camping a stone's throw from Pomme's rejuvenating waters. Throw in 100+ old and new friends, live music and dancing, boating, beaches, priests, sacraments, fishing, pick-up sports and a million stories in the making. It's quality time with many incredible people. To get away from life and get a little closer to God. A couple days of carefree timelessness.
