Current Virginia middle and high school educators who intend to
teach for the next three years are invited to apply to attend a six-day
class taught at the Virginia Holocaust Museum. The class is designed to
educate teachers, librarians, counselors, and administrators about the
Holocaust and Genocides.
Class participants will have the opportunity to delve into a wide range
of topics including anti-Semitism, eugenics, racial laws, victim groups,
perpetrators, bystanders, denial, genocides in Armenia, Rwanda,
Bosnia and others, as well as post-atrocity tribunals.
The class provides educators with comprehensive materials
and pedagogical tools so that they may confidently approach these
sensitive topics with their students and colleagues. The seminar has been
designed to be integrated with the Virginia Standards of Learning for
history, English, civics, economics, biology, fine arts, drama, music,
mathematics and science.
All sessions are taught by classroom teachers and museum staff.
