Amanda catches up with Bold and the Beautiful star Katherine Kelly Lang who’s in Australia to talk about her stylish line of kaftans. But how will Katherine react to Amanda’s own, unique Aussie take on kaftan fashion? FAST FACTS
• Katherine Kelly Lang is an actress, presenter and now designer of a line of kaftans. • She’s best known for her role as Brooke Logan,” the show's quintessential heroine and featured in the first episode of The Bold & The Beautiful on March 23, 1987. • She’s been on the show for 28 years. • As of February 2015, Lang is one of only two actors feature on The Bold and the Beautiful throughout the series. The other is John McCook who plays Eric Forrester. • Lang is one of three children in a show business family. Her parents are Keith Wegeman, an Olympic long-­‐jump skier who went on to play television's Jolly Green Giant, and Judith Lang, a film, television and commercial actress. Her grandfather was Charles Lang, a famed motion picture cinematographer. • Lang graduated from Beverly Hills High School where she concentrated more on becoming a jockey or training for the Olympics than studying to be an actress. • She took only a few drama classes in school, but fate guided her into her acting career. It began on the set of Skatetown USA when the producers took one look at Lang and cast her as the lead's (Patrick Swayze) girlfriend. • She signed with an agent and soon landed roles on Happy Days, Masquerade, Magnum P.I. and several Last Precinct shows. Lang also appeared in the Showtime mini-­‐series Training Camp...First and Ten. Soon after, she was cast as “Gretchen” on The Young and the Restless which led to appearances on films such as The Nightstalker, Disney Channel’s Mr. Boogedy, and ‘Til the End of the Night. • She is also known for appearing in all of the Beach Boys' music videos that epitomize her as the modern California Girl. Additionally, Lang guest starred in several episodes of the syndicated series Lonesome Dove, where she played a tough gunslinger determined to avenge her brother's murder, as well as in the original Showtime movie Flashframe. • She recently appeared on Dancing with the Stars, Italy. • She has an enormous love for sports and the outdoors and spends her days off playing tennis, wind surfing, mountain bike riding, horseback riding and running triathlons. • She owns several horses and competes in 25-­‐mile and 50-­‐mile cross-­‐country endurance races. At the special invitation of the Sheik of Qatar, she placed third in the International Desert Marathon in 1996. She participates in Triathlons and Marathons and is the Ambassador for Amgen’s “Breakaway from Cancer” Foundation. Additionally, she sits on •

the Board of Directors for “Tri-­‐For-­‐Women”, an organization dedicated to advancing women’s participation in Triathlons. 2013 was one of athletic achievements for Lang, who in August won her age group category in Los Angeles’ Hansen Dam Triathlon, while in September she came third in the celebrity division of the Malibu Triathalon. In 2013, Lang received a Daytime Entertainment Emmy® nomination in the category of “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. It was her first nomination in her 26 years on THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL. The classic love triangle between Ridge Forrester, Brooke Logan and Dr Taylor Hayes was voted one of the all time great love triangles in Soap Digest. Working in her mum’s store from an early age ignited Lang’s love for clothes. This inspiration set her on the path of creating versatile garments for women of all ages. Super soft, flowing and colourful, Lang believes kaftans are truly feminine and can be worn over a swimsuit or out to dinner. Her latest collection is called “The Bondi Collection” in homage to Australia, which she loves for its great outdoor activities. Her line is called Katherine Kelly Lang Kaftans: Kaftans with Love.
