Chairman’s
Welcome
Education is perhaps one of the most important yet
inadequately met needs of our countr y. Educational needs
have undergone a sea change over the past decades and
it is vital that we keep pace with this change. Kohinoor’s
approach has always been futuristic. We have always
strived to anticipate the needs of the future and fulfill them.
The motto of Kohinoor International Management Institute
is ‘Making the future happen in the present’.
W ith the changing global scenario, there is a phenomenal
growth in ser vice sector industries all over the world. We are
acutely aware of a lacuna in the countr y in terms of a worldclass educational institute to groom students into ser vice
industr y professionals, who could make it anywhere in the
world; and Kohinoor International Management Institute
was the result.
KIMI is aimed at creating global managers not only for the
hospitality sector, but also for the entire ser vice industr y. I
understand that this is an exciting and challenging time for
you and this decision of yours will underpin your future career. If you decide to take the journey with us, you can be
confident that you have joined not only one of the most prestigious and experienced private schools in India but one
that values you as a person and seeks to nurture and develop your individual strengths. I welcome you to join KIMI
with a promise that you will be proud to be among the alumni of this school.

in collaboration with American Hotel & Lodging
Educational Institute , USA ( AH & LEI)
This innovative program from IGNOU incorporating
courses of AH& LEI courses is a first of its kind in the
lear ning system, It combines the strength of both IGNOU
and AH&LEI in providing suitable programs for socioeconomic benefit, through education.
Recreational and Social Activities
Student Representative Council
An atmosphere of community living prevails on the
campus. The fervor with which every festival and social
event is celebrated is a reflection of the close bonding in
the KIMI community. Each day is bathed in its own shade,
whether its another guest lecture or a friendly football
match in the Activity centre or simply a presentation for
the next communication session. Influencing practice and
value based growth is the motto of lear ning at KIMI. Group
lear ning and team spirit are the all-pervasive themes
that can be observed in classroom discussions, on the
playground, in the bistro queues- in short everywhere.
Each year a group of students is elected to form the
Students Representative Council headed by two elected
co-presidents from third year. The SRC represents
students in meeting with management and communicates
the student body’s views and specific request. The council
manages its own budget and activity contributes to life on
campus by organizing a variety of social activity.
Events
As part of their studies, students are expected to organize
and host functions to which the staff, fellow students and
members of the public may be invited. As opportunities
to show of student’s creativity and organizational skills,
these events have included fundraising charity dinners
and cocktail functions, a talent quest, an F&B gala awards
night and a salsa party.
Every year in the month of September KIMI students
organize “ATITHI” a National Hospitality conference with
the support of other professional bodies and academic
institutions in the industry. The goal is to provide a national
forum for the academicians, professional entrepreneurs
and students to discuss various issues and topics in the
field of Hospitality.
An atmosphere of
community
living prevails
on the campus
Sport
The campus offers a range of sporting and recreational
facilities which are popular with students. The whole
school community enjoys the regular staff vs student
cricket games each year. In the immediate local area are
numerous sporting facilities including an indoor volleyball,
Badminton, Table Tennis etc.
Orientation sessions are held at the start of each year
to provide a friendly welcome to all new students. W ith
students drawn from not only India but other parts of
the world, it’s unusual for students to know anyone else
before they arrive. The orientat ion sessions are held to
help students get to know each other, introduce you to the
place, find your way around campus, meet your teachers,
and just generally set t le in.
The academic year of KIMI is divided in to two sessions.

Assessments &
Grading
The purpose of assessment is to enable students to
demonstrate that they have fulfilled the objective of a
programme of study and achieved the standard required
for its associated award. All programmes of study are
subject to course regulations that relate assessment
requirements to the programme objectives; it is on the
basis of these requirements that the examiners judge
students. Assessment must reflect overall student
performance. While marks and grades make a contribution
they have no inherent absolute value and the final
assessment must look beyond their mere computation.
Where elements of assessment occur throughout a
programme of study, students are advised of the quality
of their work but should also be advised that marks
remain provisional until ratified by the Examination Board.
Consequently, the academic judgment of an Examination
Board cannot be formally questioned or overtur ned. An
appeal against the recommendation for an award can
only be made on the grounds that information relevant
to a particular assessment was not available to the
Examination Board when it reach its decision or on
evidence of procedural irregularity.
KIMI reserves the right to change the content of this brochure any time
without any prior intimation to any one. All disputes are subject to the
jurisdiction of Mumbai courts only.
