What a great month we had! Now… March is the month to begin thinking SPRING!! We will be studying the color green, the diamond shape, and the number 7. The weather changes will be a big part of the month of March, as well as St. Patrick’s Day. The Art Gala is in April and we will be creating artwork for that special occasion so you may not see a lot of projects come home this month. A big thank you to Elliot’s Grandma for the picture frames and Ava’s Grandma for helping Miss Maeve for the last 30 minutes of the day so Miss Lisa could leave for a doctor appointment. Joyfully, Butterfly Class & Caterpillar Class February was a lovely month for the Butterflies & Caterpillars! We worked so hard on our Dad’s Day gifts during the month of January. We were so happy to finally celebrate Dad’s Day! We made stepping stones for our dads. Valentines were a big hit, too! In March, the color is blue, and the shape is the diamond. We continue working very hard to prepare all of our artwork for the upcoming Art Gala in April. Don’t forget spring break is coming!! We are looking forward to warmer temperatures. As the weather improves we will be going outside more so please bring appropriate gear for your child. Miss Linda & Miss Shannon Miss Lisa & Miss Maeve Hi, Turtle Friends! Thank you for all of your awesome efforts in the February Coin Drive! We continue working on our letters and will enjoy a “Dr. Seuss” thematic unit. This will incorporate word recognition and rhyming words. Rhyming fun has just begun! Dr. Seuss was a master at rhyming. We would love each Turtle to bring in his/her favorite Dr. Seuss book to share with the class during the month of March. Please be sure to have your name somewhere on the book so we can keep track of who the books belong to. The month of March also brings St. Patrick’s Day. We will go green with our fun “Luck of the Irish” activities. We will also soon be sending home progress reports. Our time in Chapel usually involves a story, songs and open discussions about characters from the Bible and our love for God. This month in Chapel, we will be concentrating on Jesus, His life and preparing for Easter. We will work on Easter activities both Christian and secular (such as the Easter Bunny, Easter Eggs, and Easter Bonnets). In Australia, where Mrs. McKiernan grew up, they have an Easter Hat Parade each year. We will make bonnets and parade through the school wearing them. This will take place prior to Spring Break.) We will be taking a field trip to fire station #10 this month, check our parent board for details! We are anxiously awaiting the Art Gala, and we cannot wait to share the wonderful artistic talents of the Turtle class! We look forward to seeing you when you visit our classroom. Verbal skills of listening and speaking are a main focus in the Bunnies class so we ask the students to name objects and repeat words as best they can. The Art Gala is in the April and we will be creating artwork for that special occasion so you may not see a lot of projects come home this month. Watch us become Michelangelo and paint laying on the floor under the tables, which will become our “ceiling”. We will also finger paint to the sound of Mozart. Please keep in mind that, with the changing weather we will be going outside whenever we can, so please send your child in appropriate clothes and shoes as well as jackets, gloves, and hats.
