Ministry will hold its regular food

beans...or box of cereal...Each food item makes a
difference for someone. Please continue to be
generous in sharing with our community's hungry
families. Please bring non-perishable food items to
Mass next weekend. Proceeds of this drive will be
given to Catholic Charities for distribution to those

NEW WEBSITE
Hey
! Lo
ok a
t thi
s!
Cathedral of the Annunciation
has a new website. Come check
out our fresh new look! Log on to
www.AnnunciationStockton.org and see what’s
new. It’s still a work in progress, but we think
you’ll agree — it’s a giant step in the right direction. Let us know what you think!
We are halfway through our second week of
40 Days for Life. Thank you for your
continued prayers during these 40 days of
prayer, fasting, and outreach for the
promotion of a culture of life in our city and
our world. Speaking of outreach, did you
know that when a woman is able to see her
unborn baby on an ultrasound, her
likelihood of choosing life for her baby
jumps to over 90%? The Stockton
Pregnancy Help Center is working hard to
make free ultrasounds a reality for every
woman in a crisis pregnancy in
Stockton. Please mark your calendars to
attend Mass here on the weekend of
October 25 and 26, when we will get to see
first-hand how the Stockton Pregnancy Help
Center is reaching that goal.
For questions regarding 40 Days for Life,
please contact Linda Paz at 598-7689.
Los 40 Días por la Vida
Estamos a la mitad de nuestra segunda
semana de los 40 Dias por la Vida. Gracias
High School Youth Group:
Come join us to see Christ in our
community. Christ calls us all to
serve those in need. High School
teens — sign up to feed and be a
presence of love to the homeless Wednesday,
October 15th.
October 31st is the high school
Halloween Extravaganza from
7-9pm at the Parish House!
Come join us for food, fun, and
pumpkin carving! Costumes are encouraged!
Our Family
Did you know . . . a study done by the Family
Acceptance Project found that lesbian and gay teens
who were highly rejected by their families were:

More than 8 times more likely to have attempted
suicide

Nearly 6 times more likely to report high levels of
depression

More than 3 times more likely to use illegal drugs;
and

More than 3 times more likely to be at high risk for
HIV and sexually transmitted diseases?
Did you know . . . the National Coalition for the
Homeless reports that:

40% of the homeless youth served by agencies
identify as LGBT [Williams Institute, 2012]

the most frequently cited factor contributing to
LGBT homelessness was family rejection based on
sexual orientation and gender identity, with the
second most common reason being forced out by
their parents after coming out [Williams Institute,
2012]?
It is clear that how we respond as parents and family to
our youth who come out to us as lesbian, gay, bisexual
or transgender, can literally be a matter of life and
death. The All Are Welcome ministry strives to educate
and support parents and families who are struggling
with their questions, their fears, and their faith.
If you would like to attend our next meeting, please call
(209) 403-7813, or send an email to
allarewelcome2@gmail.com, for information on date,
time and location.

DIOCESE AND COMMUNITY
Ministry Day 2014
We are many, we are ONE!
Día de Ministerios 2014
Somos muchos ~ somos UNO!
The Power of ONE! ONE = YOU! Have YOU registered for
the Faith Formation Conference? Only 4 weeks to Ministry
Day, on October 25, at the Modesto Centre Plaza. Join
hundreds of people from around the Diocese and learn about
creative ways to relate better, to reach out to those you serve
and to stay current on Church issues. Participate in
educational, spiritual and theologically sound presentations.
We are Many ~ We are ONE! The Synod on the Family will
be held in Rome from October 5th – October 19th. Come to
Ministry Day for the excitement of belonging and believing in
the family, of witnessing the Joy of the Gospel as a Diocesan
family. Take home new ideas, a stronger network, and a
renewed commitment to your family and to your parish, as the
‘family of families.’ Celebrate and worship with others who
care about the family, its challenges and its future, and who
work as you do, in the vineyard of the Lord. The day ends with
Mass, presided by Bishop Stephen E. Blaire.
Ven a
Obispo Stephen Blaire E.
