Description
Amphenol Socapex is a MIL-DTL-38999 series I standard QPL and HE308 qualified manufacturer. The LJT product
range was developed to meet the needs of the aerospace and military industries. It offers bayonet coupling connectors with a large variety of contact arrangements and shell types, maximum weight / space saving and a 100 %
contact protection.

Coding
To avoid cross-plugging problems in applications that require the use of more than one MIL-DTL-38999 I connector of
the same size, alternate key-rotations are available as indicated in the chart below. As shown in the following diagram
the master key rotates in the shell, and the insert always remains in the same position relative to the minor keys.

• The contacts are tin plated. Lead free versions are available.
• Available in wall mount (LJT PQ00) and jam nut (LJT 07) configurations.

Black Zinc Nickel is now widely recognized as a viable alternative to the traditionally used, heavy metal, cadmium, in the
defense industry.
Amphenol proposes the LJT series, known as HE308 too, with a RoHS black zinc nickel finish, with a 96 hours salt spray
performance. The benefits are that standard shells are used to provide our customers with a large range of cost effective
RoHS solution.

What is Amphenol Black Zinc Nickel
plating ?
• Environmental RoHS compliant, cadmium free
• Salt Spray 96hrs endurance with shell to shell continuity 5mΩ
and 10mΩ after salt spray exposure
• Mechanical 500 mating cycles, non magnetic
• Temperature range -65° to +175°C in accordance with MilDTL-38999
• Compatibility NO significant galvanic reaction with cadmium
or electroless nickel plated parts
Amphenol black zinc nickel plating is an alloy of zinc and nickel
with a non-relective black finish. It is blackened by immersion
in a chromate passivate solution forming a layer comprising of
various protective zinc and nickel chromates and oxides.
Our solution black zinc nickel is a versatile plating finish, its nonreflective black finish and RoHS compliant status make it deal for
use in the civil, military and industrial sectors.
Available on standard and
customised connector ranges
Amphenol black zinc nickel plating has the same thickness as
cadmium so maintains the mechanical integrity of the plated
connector and does not require new drawings, tooling or
gauges.
RoHS compliant
Amphenol black zinc nickel does not contain cadmium, lead,
mercury, PBBs, or PBDEs.
Compliance with hexavalent chrome requirements have been
verified by an independent test laboratory using the boiling
water extraction tests specified in IEC 62321.
Production process
Amphenol have invested in infrastructure and equipment to
ensure a fully production ready, repeatable process providing
our customers with consistent product performance.
Compatibility with other plating
finishes
Testing has been performed to demonstrate that there is no
significant galvanic erosion when mating Amphenol black zinc
nickel plated connectors with legacy components plated with
cadmium or electoless nickel.
The mating of Amphenol black zinc nickel plated connectors
with cadmium or electroless nickel connectors is nevertheless
let under the user’s responsibility, as himself only knows the
applications of equipment as well as the environment where it
will be used.
